Core i7

Is it a brandnew motherboard?

If it currently has Core2Duo or quad on it.. then no

oh well

thanks for the replies... that was fast... it currently has a Core 2 Quad Q9300 2.5 GHz... i was just looking.. i am NOT going to spend that amount of money !!! WOW...

Intel boards are strong and reliable bt not good overclockers.definitly not a gamers 1st choice.i have the intel G31 and it only oc's to 3.0Ghz.Saving up to get a mobo that will do my Q9550 justice

If I'm not mistaken you will also have to replace your RAM with DDR3 for the i7. The i7 is a major leap, but the Phenom2 is looking increasingly like a winner as the upgrade will be much cheaper, especially as it will fit existing AM2+ boards and still use ddr2.

Yea but surely going from a q9300 with a new amd cpu is rather pointless don't you think. I do agree if your running an older setup that amd is a great upgrade but to go from an intel quadcore to an amd quadcore is hardly an upgrade. The nice thing is for people who have amd can upgrade and they overclock really well as well. AMD have a winner for sure just wish they could bring a performance winner to the table.

You could sell your Intel mobo and buy a MSI P45 Neo3-FR it only cost 2000 Rand and with the money from the intel mobo I guess it will cost ~ 1000 Rand

I'm running a Q6600 @ 3,6 Ghz in the P45 my dad is going to buy me new 1066 ram so I can take it to 3,8-4,0 Ghz.

You won't get that q6600 to those speeds without water.

I went from 800mhz ram to 1066 and could not get my q6600 stable over 3.7ghz with water.

why waste the extra cash for 400mhz man? trust me the 1k i spent on 1066 memory was a waste of money, rather save it for a future upgrade than spend it for 400mhz.

I'm running on water ;)

btw. I get my ram from germany = very cheap OCZ ram ;)

Yea still going to be a waste of cash, i have been there and to get your q6600 stable even 3.8ghz won't be easy and if you want to spend the extra money for 200mhz go for it but i believe me it ain't worth it :). North bridge cooled i hope as well.

I wish i had taken the 1.4k it cost for my 1066 memory and stuck it away for future upgrades :), i went from 3.6ghz to 3.78ghz and it set me back 1.4k hahaha.

Well I know for a fact that my cpu will make the 3,8 but my 800 mhz ram is blocking my oc. Don't have to cool the nb since I'm still within Intel specs and it only gets up to 50°C and that is normal even MSI says that. Atm I'm @ 1,46 Vcore and Intel specs say up to 1,5 is fine. CPU temp is ~38-42°C under load 29 idle. The 1066 ram will set me back about ~ 500 Rand for 4 GB OCZ Platinum Kit.
