I think it's the Ultra chips that are not great tbh, all of ours at my work is having issues atm, have Lenovo's at work, over heat, stuttering is bad

Likely but also suspect the ultra CPUs are just weak

Felt sluggish in windows too if only our distributors would bring the Ryzen version here

Which GPU did you spring for in that? I got one with a 4060 last year for a steal. Not the best built laptop compared to other Lenovos which are generally quite tough, but performance hasn't been bad at all. Just with a 4060 in it, it can actually chomp power.

I did not actually get it, takealot has the LOQ Essential model which has various draw backs so still looking for a replacement laptop, the i5 they have is too weak a CPU unfortunately, my old Lenovo Y530 was a 6 core i7 so need something around that but the issue with my Y530 throttling the CPU when plugged in so had to replace.

Apparently the CPU throttling issue happened to someone on Reddit in which he received a R50k bill from Partserve

What about the HP Victus ? Ryzen 5 with RX 6550m for light gaming

That will be some very light gaming, the RX6550m is about as powerful as the 3050 and with 4GB you'll be limited. What Ryzen 5 is it?

Ryzen 5 7535HS, will probably only play Fortnite and the new Ananta as I already have a gaming PC at home

Just remember that Ryzen is also theoretically slower than the Core Ultra 5. But it should handle youtube and light gaming.

And originally that is why I have not picked it but that Ultra 5 was absolutely horrible, a 6 core ryzen @4.5ghz and that ultra was mostly at 1.5-2ghz

Still have a Ryzen 7 5700x and wow is that thing a beast for its age

My brother has a lenovo ideapad 15 ryzen 3 with default gpu and 4gb ram, we are able to do anything chrome can work great no lagging, fm2024 plays smooth all in all its good...

100% I feel the ultra 5 was just a poor cpu , will order the victis and have a go with the Ryzen 5
 
Just thought I’d add got a HP Victus a far cheaper laptop with a Ryzen cpu and it’s been absolutely fantastic yes the screen is worse but it’s been lightning fast those core ultra CPU’s are just bad

What specs is the machine and what's the battery life like on the Ryzen?
