Corolla Cross - Claimed vs actual consumption

I have a 2023 Corolla Cross

Claimed combined consumption is 6.9L per 100KM

My actual is around10kL per 100KM. I do a lot of freeway driving, probably 50/50 in town vs freeway

Recently did PE to Plett, around 500KM round trip, 135Km/H on cruise control the whole way. Reset the consumption tracker befoe I left, and it still averaged 9.9 for the trip

Do I just drive really kak or do I need Toyota to check it out?

typo I guess? should be km/l (or l/100km?), because 6.9 liter per km is insane, like army tank insane

seems excessive to me (the km/l version), my 7 year old 2L Subaru XV does better than that

is this a hybrid Cross or just normal engine Cross?

Yeah my mistake, it's L per 100KM. I corrected it

It's normal 1.8L non hybrid

you definitely not the 1st to complain about the Corolla cross fuel consumption. That is terrible consumption especially for the long road .

The claimed is in ideal circumstances, only time I ever come close to my Clios claimed is on highways, otherwise it's 7 to 8l per 100 in traffic

15kmph over the speed limit.
Optimal consumption is probably around 80-120kmph.

Those are all cars i've owned one or more models of. The ones in the list that gave me near the claimed combined consumption: ZERO.

It's a standardised test, which unfortunately does not match how the average person uses their vehicle. If you put two cars side-by-side, and the one has lower fuel consumption on paper, that will generally be the one that is more economical.

I usually match or achieve better fuel economy than the tested figure, in all the cars I've driven.

Unless you're VW, then its a standardized test with IF statements in all the onboard code to check if its being tested..

Yup thats normal, was disccused just other day on mybb about the not so good feul consumption on these models.

The answer is always the 320D, more than 10 years old with an even older than that engine design and still beat modern day cars in feul consumption and power delivery.
