How much it costs to cancel a contract with Vodacom

There could be several reasons why you might want to cancel your phone contract, such as needing a new handset and being tied into your previous agreement or being unhappy with the service provided by your mobile operator.

However, it is important to note that ending a contract prematurely can carry a hefty cancellation fee.

Good luck cancelling a contract even after the fixed term of the contract...

Devices fees I can understand but 75% of the contract? That is ridiculous and not fair to the consumer...

And when you do cancel a contract after the expiry date or month to month contracts theey attempt to do clawback fees.

For example I had a month to month contract with Vodacom.
I had issues between the line and the box, got into a blame cycle betwesn supplier of fibre and the ISP. Got so bad I had to cancel the business line.

On cancelling a R700 MONTH to MONTH contract I was told that I would have to pay R1700. Because I cancelled within a year....

I would have understood a clawback if they had to install the line. The excuse they gave was they needed to rent the box from the supplier for a full year. My response was that that's fine but that's their contract.
They also stated that the clawback was in the contract. Got them to send the contract to me and indeed there was, except the contract explicitly states month to month wasn't included.
I needed to highlight the clawback piece and state month to month and then they claimed that they had a big meeting and decided to waive the clawback for me.
I judge cellular providers based on two things.
Service while using the product and support.
As well as what happens when you attempt to cancel.
Don't trust the computer system they use, as I have heard regularly that they misrepresent the contract length remaining ect.
