Hey guys/ girls (Marcel, I know you reading this),

So by next year I want to quit vaping (I was a smoker before but swapped to vaping in 2014). I am pretty much tired of being reliant (addicted) to something that I must pick up everyday ,charge etc. Can you share your experience with quitting ? Tips tricks etc (I have watched the Andrew Huberman episode on quitting smoking and vaping) but how long in your opinion does it take for the actual cravings to go away etc?

I started smoking in high school so this habit of nicotine is pretty much drilled into me. :(

Edit: I would like to add if you are a smoker and can't quit please switch to vaping if you can, I wouldn't be alive right now if I didn't make the switch.

3 days was the mark for me. Not the cravings but getting over the feeling of wanting to give in to them, unpleasant days for sure. 3 weeks to be get over the triggers(coffee post meal habit) and another year and a half of “that cigarette smells fantastic” before being properly off of it.

When I quite smoking, I went for 2 things:

1) Hypnosis to quit at a psychologist (Not sure if this ever did anything, but he insisted it did work).
2) Got a prescription for the "latest and greatest" in smoking cessation pills from my Dr. At the time it was Champix (not sure what it is now). I was done smoking around 2 months later. It was a 3 months course.

I replaced a 30+ year smoking habit with a twisp. After 4-5 years on that (20mg) I gradually decreased the nicotine content a few mg a week until I was down to zero.

After a few weeks at 0mg I went abroad with the family and left the vape behind. That was about 3-4 years ago.

If it is available please make sure you speak to your doctor before trying it.
It can cause severe depression in some people who are prone to it.
My doc wouldn't give it to me.
Good luck,I have tried everything to stop smoking but no luck.
At my age I'm past trying

Allan Carr's easy way helped me a lot.

This helped for me but you must fully WANT to stop. Whatever you do, dont use Zyban unless you want to constantly kill yourself.

Another thing you can try is a fat fat fat dose of shrooms.

do you need help with the countdown? if so, i have bad news for your resolution.
it's a lot easier than you think actually, you first decide if you want to give up the self soothing suckling on your emotional crutch and finally man up or not. easy, then you do what you intend to do

I smoked for around 15 years and tried many methods to quit.. vaping, rollies, etc..
But eventually what worked for me was I stopped. Just stopped. Didn’t pick up a cigarette, vape, light one for another person, nothing. Just quit.
The worst was the following few weeks when Braaing or having a drink. And I miss the morning ciggie.. other than that, 4 years and going strong.

My mom went to the doctor recently but looks like champix is out of stock for a long time. Something wrong with the supply or something but I don't think I need it

Miss the morning ciggie? I need at least 3 with my morning coffee to feel like I can face the world.

Well if you just want to stop 1st Jan it is a bit late now for this method. But as said before with vaping its easy. Just drop you nic in the vape juice every week by a few mg till you get to zero. After a few weeks or a month or two on 0mg nic, you would not really have nic cravings anymore. So then you just need to kick the habit.
Smoking/vaping is just two things the nicotine addiction and the habit. Easier to first stop with one and then the other, than doing both at once.
Once you off the nicotine you can also try buying juice that you really don't like to help vaping less till you just stop.

Similar boat to you. Smoked for 26 years before my heart was like “nope, time to stop that **** or I’ll end you”, and I made the switch to vaping instead (was only on about 5 cigs a day and had been vaping for a few months when I eventually quit the former). That was 4 years ago, and reckon it’s time to stop vaping completely because it’s served its purpose.

Problem is that I vape more frequently than I ever smoked: I can vape indoors at home, unlike when I smoked and had to go stand outside. Even when I was working in an office, I could nip into the toilet for a cheeky vape instead of having to trek all the way to the smoking area on the other side of the parking lot. If anything, I think vaping has actually reinforced the habit.

I started on 18mg, and went all the way down to 6mg and then 3mg, currently alternating between the two. I don’t see the point of 0mg, because I’ve tried it in the past and started withdrawing, but I know I need to pull the plug - I just don’t know how yet.

That was one of my favourites. Reckon it is for most smokers. Makes sense, because you haven’t smoked for around 8hrs and you’re withdrawing hard. Other favourite was after a meal.

Your lungs are the pathway of life into your body. There’s no better time to quit than now. Stop right now. Cold turkey. Throw it in the bin, or better, in the fire. Immediately, you will feel a release from the addiction.
