Countdown to vape free year (Help)

Your lungs are the pathway of life into your body. There’s no better time to quit than now. Stop right now. Cold turkey. Throw it in the bin, or better, in the fire. Immediately, you will feel a release from the addiction.

Not sure what fire does to a lithium ion battery…

Similar boat to you. Smoked for 26 years before my heart was like “nope, time to stop that **** or I’ll end you”, and I made the switch to vaping instead (was only on about 5 cigs a day and had been vaping for a few months when I eventually quit the former). That was 4 years ago, and reckon it’s time to stop vaping completely because it’s served its purpose.

Problem is that I vape more frequently than I ever smoked: I can vape indoors at home, unlike when I smoked and had to go stand outside. Even when I was working in an office, I could nip into the toilet for a cheeky vape instead of having to trek all the way to the smoking area on the other side of the parking lot. If anything, I think vaping has actually reinforced the habit.

I started on 18mg, and went all the way down to 6mg and then 3mg, currently alternating between the two. I don’t see the point of 0mg, because I’ve tried it in the past and started withdrawing, but I know I need to pull the plug - I just don’t know how yet.
The 0mg never worked for me because well I can tell I am not getting my fix. I was a chain smoker marlboro red guy when I could afford it. Damn I remember aspen. I have downloaded the reverie app (hypnosis quit smoking, will just cancel once I listen a few times). I only have one coil left so hopefully its the last

Funny enough I asked my GP about Champix about 2 months ago and he told me that Champix and Zybaan have been removed from the market due to too many people offing or wanting to off themselves. It worked for a lot of people but the amount of people that had severe reactions was to high.

Good luck Kornhub.

I’m glad to hear that. So many people I know had disastrous experiences with those quack big pharma drugs.

My brother who has also taken it before was told the same thing. Don't think they are going to restock it anytime soon.

But eventually what worked for me was I stopped. Just stopped. Didn’t pick up a cigarette, vape, light one for another person, nothing. Just quit.
Same here for a few different things ranging from mild to more severe addictions. Tapering never worked - using less just meant the door was always open to using more if life got stressful or something. Cold turkey was always the thing that ended it. Yeah it's tough sometimes, but for me the discomfort of that experience serves as a reason not to go through the cold turkey again.

As much as it feels like you're gonna ruin a holiday, now is the best time because once the new year kicks off and you have work and the usual stress etc you'll be even less willing to give up a habit.

Success rate is over 80 percent and there have been more studies since 2015!
Rofl no man . Shrooms for me is a different universe. I can't be my own therapist on shrooms

I take you don't want to share what they were but I am happy that you got over them .:giggle: And like yeah I will need to go cold turkey because just lowering the amount means nothing in my brain. When I quit I quit . It will always be a scapegoat .

18 year smoker, took 2 years to quit.

Been smoking since high school. Been smelling horrible too.

Fast forward December 1st 2019, decided to go over to a vape, try something different. Maybe some more flavour, hooked immediately. 50mg nic, the whole kit and caboodle. Vaped so much I changed the weather forecast. A year passes. Dentist tells me I'm going to lose teeth if I keep doing whatever it is I'm doing.

So September 2020, not wanting porcelain veneers or knit one slip one for the rest of my life, I start pre-mixing my own juice. A little less Nic and flavour, ever time. I figure vaping pure vg/pg is no fun.

April 2021, no nic, no flavour, body decides f**kitt develop a craving for sweets, anything that's sure to send me into diabetes, that's what I crave. So instead of candy wrappers everywhere, I decide on fruit. Feeling like sweets, eat a apple. Switched over to honey too.

2022 rolls around, eating healthy, no smoking, no vaping, gym 3 times (or more) a week. Walking 8k steps a day, maybe even running a little.

What made it all worth it for me? Feeling better, sleeping better, a flu is a cake walk, and walking up stairs, hills, mountains is now "fun".

I can taste food again, I can smell things again, like when rain hits gravel or tar. I still snore, apparently, but I'm working on that too.

Stopping, alcohol, the smokes, or any other destructive habit, is hard. It's a road few choose to travel. But from where I'm standing, at this junction. It's worth every damn minute. Life is short, why make it unpleasant for yourself too?

Its strange how different things taste when you stop smoking, its entire new experience eating and drinking different things.

@Kornhub its not worth waiting until the last vape or cigarette etc is finished to stop, just do it now, throw it away and decide you are done with it. It might be difficult but just remember the craving will pass and each craving will last less and less. Have a craving, do some push ups, drink some water, read something interesting, anything to take your mind off.

Your brain is a lot stronger than a craving and you can do this easily!

Merry Christmas

I like vaping

Stopped smoking close on 8 years ago now. Went on holiday and decided that I'm done with cigarettes the day before we left. Got a vape device and that's all I've been using since.

Had the occasional cig on a golf tour or when I'm out with the boys and very very drunk but I have no inclination to ever go back to smoking full time.

But I really like vaping. I've done twisp and the big mods and tanks for the cloud experience. Now I mostly just use caliburns with 2ml pods and 3mg or 1mg juice. It's not about the nicotine at all.

I just like vaping and I know I should stop it as well.

Ex smoker vaped for a year then off cigs permanently. Switch to vaping only was painless, then did it by gradually lowering the nicotine content, helps that I mixed my own juice. Kept telling myself 0% juice means it's just the mechanics, the ritual of it all, there's no more physical addiction. Worked for me, put down the vape one day and just never picked it up again..
