Let's forget that Catholics, and funding from the Church, were responsible for literally every major scientific revelation during the middle ages in Europe.

Let's forget that priests were the educators of their day.

Let's forget that the very concept of universities in medieval Europe was a project by the Catholic Church.

The Church may have been responsible for a lot of regressive things, but they were also the single strongest force for progress in medieval Europe.

Just another one of your shet takes on history, of which you have many on this forum.

And before some big brain eludes to or asks, no I'm not religious, yes I dislike the Catholic Church very much.

Gen Mark Milley, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the highest-ranking military officer in the US, has also warned active duty service members to stay away from the January 20th rally. Gen Milley labelled the events of the 6th as an insurrection and any active duty service members that were found to be present have been warned that they could face a court martial and be tried for sedition. Of interest, execution is still a valid form of military punishment for seditious activities.

I never said conservatives were stupid. Progressive Scientists come up with new ideas and discoveries and conservative scientists usually are the ones that do rigorous testing that proves or disproves the new Discovery. Though sometimes the old guard conservative scientists need to retire or die before new ideas finally catch on in the scientific world.

I've don't know much about the Medicis but if they worked within the existing power structure and didn't fundamentally change it then I'd say they were conservatives but if they created a brand new power structure while taking power then they were more progressive

I think woke people are generally morons.
Much to my surprise, I have met quite a few woke people in the last few that are intelligent in many areas.


So we can be both intelligent and morons.
We all have our blindspots and we can change.

Maybe in a few years I'll be woke.

While I get what you're saying, you're failing on the absolutes. It's a bit like my daughter when she was 16 yrs old. You just don't want me to do anything.

If what you say were true: We'd all be hyper conservative only a tad above our Symbian cousins. The hyper progressives would have all died trying to fly over the cliff. :P

It's about advancing safely.

New ideas like classifying people by their race and assigning value to them based on it...

One of the amusing things I have observed is that whilst the people in tech and science fields are usually politically left, psychologically they are highly conservative. You introduce a different way of doing things (like do code commenting differently) and there will be more kvetching than handing out bacon pie at a bar-mitzvah.
