Hi All,

Hoping someone who's been through the process may be able to offer further info, recently got this update from my estate manager regarding fibre rollout :

Although Telkom has installed the fibre, you can now approach any internet service provider of your choice to find out about the various options available for fast internet access as they are using an “Openserve” system. If you use another service provider they will internally rent the use of the fibre from Telkom at no extra cost for the consumer.

If I check the Telkom coverage map it's still on light purple ( fibre planned ) so upon calling Axxess to signup was told I'll have to wait for the map to be updated before applying.

Any idea how long this will take?

Can take months. I have been waiting nearly six months for Telkom Map to change in color.
Recently changed color only for half of my street length, and that was to the top end, which in turn is a dead end to our road.

Telkom should finish the fibre installation in my area end of November, and it doen't even show as planned on the Telkom map. Does this mean no ISP will do the installation for me once Telkom is done?

Not sure about other ISP's I've only tried Axxess so far, you'd think the people at ISP's have a contact at OpenServe they can contact to update sooner?

No. All the ISPs access the same Openserve database.

Yes, even Telkom themselves do not know until the map changes, this is to be "open and fair" to all ISP's.
This is to give everyone a fair playing field to fight for busisness
I think it is a load off bull anyways.

Just an update on this, coverage changed to dark purple today ( been checking daily ). Called Axxess and placed my order lets see what happens...

Oh my hat, just got this update from Axxess :

Good day Please find attachment unfortunately as seen under the Open Serve footprint Open Serve is not allowing us to supply you with fibre due to the error receieved. Only 40Mbps is available. Therefore we do apologize about this. Thank you

Oy vey, anyone perhaps have a contact at OpenServe? If I put in my address with street number it comes back with 40Mbps coverage, if I put in just my street without with street number it comes back with 100Mpbs

KantSnyer, could just be that they're not registering the last mile delivery to your house/complex yet.

Afaik, the order you are now trying to place is supposed to do exactly that, give you the last mile connectivity to the fibre.

Don't just try Axxess, obviously they don't want your business. Try Cool Idea's instead. (if they do openserve)
Otherwise, try other ISP's. ISP's that WANT your business and will query Telkom as to why your whole area is purple but your address only registers as 40mb. It's stupid.
