In yesterdays Cape Argus there was a full page add for Vodacom 3G and it listed the areas covered. This included Melkbosstrand where I live.

Question is: 1. why does it not show there is coverage on the Vodacom online map? 2. why do I only get 1/5-2/5 bars?

I've been under the impression I'm connecting to Tableview therefore the low signal strength ... How can I check where I'm connected to?

I'm using the external antenna.

Btw, there's no coverage at all in my bathroom ;)
 
I'm not going to ask what you're doing with your mobile connection in the bathroom... :)

PM me your physical addr. and I'll ask the local radio guys what your coverage should be.

The map is either outdated and/or conservative.

You can also call 155 while you're connected and they'll be able to tell you to which tower you're connected.

Dont use your laptop or wireless connect card in your bathroom because it will get liquid damaged

Any news? I am getting lots of disconnects, and performance is often not great. Luckily my little dialer app reconnects ...

Surely if my area was covered I should be getting better than 1/5-2/5 bars?

Thanks all for the bathroom tips! Is the jacuzzi ok then?

Dont undastand when u say 1/5 2/5 bars vodacom doesnt gaurantee or any network that you will get coverage in your home.

there`s no 3g in melbos as yet

Then why is Vodacom advertising it as being available in Melkbos?
