CPA VS Electronic Arts

oh ok, I haven't played computer games in ages. Can they log in with your account and play then?

yeah they can, but i wouldnt want someone else using my account :).

okay fair enough, i hear your guys points.

Then why i can't have the choice to simply give the game to someone else ?

Because often you don't have the right to resell, as you just bought a licence to use, as opposed to buying a product.
This is the same if you buy a drm'ed music track etc

Under the CPA 5 days to change your mind section it clearly stipulates that the item should not be opened and in the original packaging.
The moment you took the packaging off you lost that right to return.
If the game/disc was faulty then you have different rights.
However remember the comments above, The CPA doesn't speak to quality of product ie. if it isn't your cup of tea you cant invoke the CPA to remedy the situation.

You do not own the game, technically... you have paid for the right to use it yourself on a EA account. You cannot resell it under EA's eula agreement.
This is perfectly legal.....ethical? well the jury's still out on that one.

+1 to that matey.

I find this a stupid situation all round.

I am stuck with something i really really hate. I would love nothing more than to literally give it away, and lets not even go down the route of explanation regarding the information that Origin collects....

at the end of the day, you're stuck with something you really really hate because you weren't at all responsible in your purchase. You didnt check out a demo, probably didnt read many (any?) reviews, and bought it on impulse or with very little general thought given to the matter. Too bad for you. Guess you wont do that again? And such is how the world works.

Feature requests for EA products dont go in this forum.

Of course you can give it to someone else. People resell or give away their Steam and Blizzard accounts all the time - EA won't know.

If EA doesn't have means of dis-associating the key from my account, i fail to see how this negates any form of a return policy ?
I am not going into reasoning of your return, but generally product can be defective and non-return policy conflicts with CPA. You can lodge complaint to FCA asking for ban of such products from importing to South Africa. You can make such products illegal, it hurts.

Man just pirate the game and if you like it buy it.. that's usually the safest in terms of determining if you like the game...

/run and hides

Do you have any other games linked to this account. And any credit card details?
Otherwise pass it on, especially if you can edit the info (at least the address).

Most PC games cannot be returned because of the CD Key issue and the fact that people can copy the CD and distribute without any effort (i,e: for consoles, you must get the console chipped. I hear this shortens the life of your console), and PC games can be cracked easily.

You should try read reviews, watch gameplay footage on youtube or get the demo (if there is any) before purchasing a PC Game.

You can try and file a complaint EA on the CPA, but im not sure if the CPA will do something about it.
