Well tonight my pc is just playing around with me :(

the fan speed goes from 500RPM to 2000RPM,

My pc keeps getting extremely hot for some or other reason, have you any idea how to maybe make it run at full speed? or how to manually control the fan speed?

I have a Gigabyte 8i915ME-GL with a P4 3.00Ghz processor.

Any help will be appreciated as i am now lost as to what to do, just the strangest thing will make the fan go to almost zero

just have a look in the bios cant remember exactly where but there is a place where you can change it in there.....

I got mine to run at 12000RPM but have a custom 220V fan.

that helps (sarcastic) it give me exactly the same info as easytune and my bios. it doesn't set the fan speed either...

It doesn't, or you can't get it to?

And how are we supposed to know what you've tried?

i tried that but get nothing, is it under pc health?
I think so... On my MB I have to change the Fan Control from Automatic to Manual before it allows me to change any values.

When did it start to do this? Did you change anything inside your case recently?

Update your BIOS to the latest version. This will probably not fix it, but it just might.
Try to connect fan directly to your power supply. Positive (+) should go on the 12V rail (yellow wire on the IDE-power connector) and negative (-) to the black wire next to it.
Apply small amount of lubrication to the fan bearings. Not sure what is best, but Q20 or silicone spray will work.
Remove old thermal paste and reapply. If you ever remove your CPU, you have to put new thermal paste on!!

it's a molex power connector not ide

Molex is the name of the company that designed the connector. A "molex power connector" could mean any power connector manufactured by Molex.

Well to 99% of us it means the 4pin version:)

Lol +1, the 4 pin, approximately 0.5cm width, 2cm length that are found on all PSU's

I think some pc stores have connectors that converts the bigger molex's to small fan connectors.

That should keep your cpu cool, just always at full speed, unless you get a fan speed changer like the zalman fan mate for 40 bucks.

There is no manual on my board for some unknown reason
and its actually been acting up for a while i applied new thermal paste twice already in an effort to cool the system but its as if the system doesn't understand where to keep the processor and i checked everywhere to see if i can't change fan values.
I will try connecting the fan to the PSU, i don't mind about the sound as long as the CPU doesn't overheat.

Thanx

On the Gigabyte website here...

Check the capacitors to see if any are bulging - may be the board on it's way out.

When in the BIOS, aslo try pressing CTRL + F1 - this may give you the hidden BIOS features.
