Remember to clean off all the old paste.. preferably with some Isopropyl alcohol.. then watch a few videos on youtube about how best to apply thermal paste.. You should not spread it yourself.. it's best to put a small blob or line (line method) in the center, then clamp the cooler in and let the cooler spread the paste.. no air bubbles this way.
Also, maybe see if there's a bios update for the mobo?
Sorry, just want to mention one last thing.
All the benchmarks I've done (Passmark and Cinebench) only pick up 2 cores / 4 threads. I see the common solution for this is to re-install windows (I did not build a new PC, so I am still running the Windows that my previous CPU had).
Is this a common problem?
You could try Device Remover, view hidden/detached devices with it, remove (uninstall) the previous CPU and boot up again and see if it works.
Thanks for the suggestion. I tried it, but the Benchmark software still only picks up 2 cores / 4 threads.
I am going to re-install Windows so hopefully that will fix it![]()
