Does anyone know of a free, reliable temp manager.

Speedfan, I used this to control my fan speeds automatically when my temps increased or decreased and it monitors most temperatures.

Also RealTemp I believe... Have a look at the OC sticky. :)

It's called editing your previous post. Double posting is frowned upon. As for the temps... if that's how warm your case is inside, you might want to consider some chassis fans. If it's CPU temp, then it's not bad

Quite right. But it's sometimes hard to edit from a phone, if that's what he's using. But logic would suggest he wait's for his temp results before saying anything... But, more importantly, my X850XT is, I'm quite happy to say, nearly silent and never much more than 45degrees since I attached the Zalman Vf700AlCu cooler. My 3GHz P4 still has high temps of up to 70 (during a long SuperPI run) but that's because the Zalman 7000AlCu is set to lowest speed = quietest.

But if you're having high temps, the first, cheapest and smartest option is to get some good old case fans going. And get rid of some dust in your case.

You right, I am using a phone.

Can the people who know about system temps just tell me if this is ok, running speed fan:
Temp 1- 37C
Temp 2- 43C
HD0 -39C

Old pc, only noticed now that it has a fan at the PSU and the normal one on the heat sink above the CPU, only 2 fans. Do i need more ?

Temp1 is probably th CPU, which at 37 is perfectly happy. Temp2 I would guess is the Northbridge? Should be fine. And that HD at 39 is also fine. What CPU be graphics card are you using? Maybe download CoreTemp if you have a Core2Duo and get ATItool if you have an ATI graphics card, or RivaTuner if you have an nVidia card. Then you can get more exact CPU temps and graphics card temps.

I would chuck out all existing case fans if they're old and generic and buy new quiet Zalman or CoolerMaster fans, which will be much quieter and keep things cooler.

temp 2 is the CPU and I don't have generic case fans, I have a fan on my cpu and another one in my PSU

No fans apart from CPU and PSU? Then leave it as is. It's fine.

won't a intake and exhaust fan make it cool enough to clock this P4 2.4Ghz to 2.6GHz

Yes if you want to overclock a P4 then I would add intake and exhaust fans. But is wouldn't really be worth it IMO.

I'll just leave the fans the pc has been fine for the last 7 years. Only weird thing is it looks like it has an inbuilt speaker that no one has plugged in, any advice on where i could plug it in ?

You mean the tiny little speaker with two wires coming out of it? If you find system beeps enjoyable you can put it back in... If you have the manual for the motherboard look there for a diagram of the mobo or something, paying where each thing has to be plugged in. Otherwise just look on the mobo for something called SYS_SPK or SPK or something like that.
