Crackdown coming on illegal software users

Use Open Office, its got all the feature of MS Office and more. I installed a year ago because I didnt have any MS Office disks. I was skeptical but now I still use it and don't think I'll bother installing MS Office until someone gives me a free copy and a reason to install it.

This topic seems dead, but I was wondering how do those companies who sell mod chips get away from blatantly selling copied movies and games without getting busted. Surely this is piracy at the highest level and they are doing retail style. I drove past one this morning. I won't mention their name though ( cos I am secretly glad for them) but just wondering how they get away with it?

Anyone who only sells modchips is not breaking any laws. If they are including or selling copied games, then they are breaking the law. However I'd rather the police spend their time and my tax money concentrating on serious, violent crimes, instead of protecting the interests of wealthy foreign companies.

Hows about swinging it both ways ...

I want to be able to tell MS to come here and tell me and prove where I am breaching copyright, if at all, without fear of prosecution. Their licencing agreements have changed 5 times in the last 6 years and there range of product offerings are now all under different agreements.

Also .. their wording is downright confusing and I really don't have the time to play lookup the acronym.

i.e. I want protection from Business Software Alliance against the copyright/licencing writers.

Me too.

Call them and say "come on over, I have a blank cheque - tell me what I must right[1]".
I have not got the patience to become a lawyer in order to be an IT Manager.

[1] typo or not? hehe
write or right as "correct". You be the judge
