Crazy driving on public roads

i'd like all of you to bring you cars and lets go for a drag race and see who crosses the line 1st!! Let's settle this the proper way on the black top!!

Sure thing ... we'll see how much pounding your "GT500" can take from a Defender :D

Settle this the proper way? If you were old enough to be married, you would probably tie your wife to the kitchen sink?

Grow up you ******* retard!

Well, I like to think that I know a thing or two about mustangs, as they are my favorite cars. One of the things I know is that any mustang from the 90's is rubbish and I wouldn't be caught dead in it. 325bhp from a 5.7l? That's pathetic.

Well, no, because the engine in there was bored up to 5.7L - so it's not a standard GT500 motor in there either.

You surely didn't read what I said did you, you just typed away like a keyboard racer... later versions might have been 5.7L but the earlier versions was 5.8L for the GT500 and it was also in this design that was made a bit more modular that Cobra used in some of their cars and because of the fact that he probably has a FR500 with a 5.8L engine he says it's a GT500 because of the heritage and similarities it share with the GT500's....

No it doesn't. And R200k for a real GT500? Hah. Add another zero at the end there, and change the R for a $ and you'd be VERY lucky to pick one up.

Its pretty clear that Jason has less than no clue about the history of the car he's trying to pass of as a GT500....

Newer model GT500's can be had for lots less, but mint original GT500's from the 60's and 70's are worth a boat load of cash...esp since there will be less than 10000 in total. (can't find the exact production numbers atm)

2048 of the original '67 GT500's were made. There was also a '68 GT500KR produced but I don't know the numbers on that one. Probably not many either.

The GT500KR came in two variants... fastback and convertible.

They made 1053 fastbacks and 517 convertibles.

Best guess I can make in terms of overall numbers is that the REAL deal GT500's (not this rubbish they're punting now) were only made 6935 times... So that makes them VERY VERY rare.

I think it's also safe to assume that now, 40 years or so down the line, most have been destroyed. Personally, I generally like exclusivity, but I'd rather have a GT350 still. Much more fun car to drive. Not that it's not exclusive as well, it's just less exclusive. Maybe when crude oil runs out, I'll be able to pick one up for an affordable price, and just have it sit in a garage so I can look at it :D

I am living in the same world...

I want an eleanor look-a-like yes... but an oldschool GT350 just has that much more class and style really.

Oh, and please just please can someone park an E-type Jag in my garage, next to a nice old Ferrari 275GTB... asseblief? :D

The Jag E-Types aren't that expensive surprisingly! I guess it depends on the specific model, but in my experience, American and Italian cars from that era, where Italian = Lambo, Ferrari, etc. are way more expensive. Probably due to demand.

Yeah... mostly cos there are lots of nutcase british ppl restoring e-types... :)

Ahhh, my mistake I wants a 275GTS... not GTB.... and its worth give or take R2.2million... *sniff*

From the older Ferrari's, the 250GT Zagato's the playmate in their Playboy, for me. Again, the rest of the world seems to agree with me on this one, and the fact that they only produced a relative handful doesn't help either.

I never liked the Zagato designs tbh... they were always a little too jarring for me. I prefer the old Pinnanfarina designs, they just seem more subtle to me.

Pininfarina's designs have always floated my boat as well but that 250GT just does something for me. Not really a big fan of Italian sportscars from the 60's-80's... The Diablo came in some nice flavours but I'd still much rather have a '67 Mustang Fastback or a Cobra or some such. Anyway, lunch awaits and then it's off to the track. Have a good day

Perhaps you should heed your own advice and read what I wrote: For your benefit, I will retype the particular wording here:
because the engine in there was bored up to 5.7L

You see it now?

Yeah whateva boyz...you can only dream of driving a mustang like mine!!

Not actually. I reckon yor car is fugly man! I much prefer my ride! And your speeding is ludicrous. Being a dj I find myself driving Jan Smuts in the wee hours of the morning between 3am and 7am. I seriously hope I never encounter you on ANY road in South Africa.

I did an advanced high speed driving course and one of the demo's is stopping distance from different speeds. I cant remember exact distances but, at 120 or 140 Km/h your stopping distance is longer than the distance your lights light up the road (even the latest xenon beams) on high beam, and thats pedal mashed to the floor with ABS. Without ABS it was much worse.

So by the time you see a stationary obstruction at night its too late you in it. I use to think I was invinsable on the roads fast reactions, and what not but after doing the advanced driving courses I'm alot more defensive and even think further ahead. Oh and I never exceed 140. That brake distance demo is constantly in my memory.

And the fact that Mr. Bad claims to check road conditions and all that doesnt hold water. How can you be in control of conditions that are uncontrollable. all it takes is a car to pull out of a side road because it looks like you far away.

Mr. Bad and his buds have been lucky thats all. But luck runs out eventually ...
