Archer is an idiot. You'd think professional sportspeople would have learnt to take this virus seriously by now
 
Archer dropped for Old Trafford Test after protocol breach

England have dropped Jofra Archer from their squad for the second Test against West Indies that begins at Old Trafford on Thursday (July 16). The announcement has been made just hours before the commencement of the Test following Archer's breach of the team's bio secure protocols.

Archer will now be in isolation for a period of five days during which he will be undergoing two COVID-19 tests.

JOFRA UPDATE: There's no party or a nightout angle here. He stopped at his home in Brighton on the way from Southampton to Manchester and that's where the breach happened. He will now be kept in isolation for five days and will have to pass two covid-19 tests before he gets to join back.
 
...and, of course, it is raining in England. Which it does. Mostly.

Stupid. Worst reason to miss a test match, ever.

Toss: 12pm | 16:30 IST
Start: 12:30pm | 17:00 IST
Lunch: 1:30pm | 18:00 IST
Tea: 4:25pm | 19:55 IST
Stumps: 7pm | 11:30 IST (+ extra 30 minutes if necessary)

Edit: I suppose this is also subject to whatever the weather holds for the rest of the day.

Joe Root: We have to look ahead to the next five days and put up a good performance. We spoke to Mark and Jimmy and knew it's a high risk to play them in back to back games. It is a must win for us, but we need to look after them as well. We can take 20 wickets and we're looking forward to that. We have Broad, Woakes, Curran and Bess in the bowling.

Jason Holder: We're going to field first. Try to make use of the overhead conditions. We've got the same team as well. Whatever it is under the surface, we'll try to extract it in the first session. The bowlers have pulled up quite well, expect similar things in this game from them. We've got to start fresh; different venue, different match. We have to learn from our mistakes in the last game and rectify it here. The last game brought a lot of smiles to the faces of our people back home and we'll look to keep it that way.

This is the ninth instance of Jason Holder opting to field first in 19 Tests he had won the coin toss. (Won 3; Lost 5). Since Holder started captaining WI in 2015, only Kane Williamson had opted to field more often - 13 times in 17 Tests.

The decision to bowl first looks like a poor one. The fifth day at this ground is expected to be very much in favour of the side bowling. WI will need a big first innings lead to avoid any big totals to chase.
