I agree with that, however its exactly that what is sadly declining test cricket, 100 runs of 700 balls.

Hats off to England trying to keep test cricket alive and trying something new.

Keep the stadiums full and the crowds engaged.

I think England made a mistake with team selection. Wood would have been better suited to this pitch.
Bairstow's catching and moeen's injury were other factors .
Still would have won if Cummins didn't play his 2 best innings for the past 5 years.

Expect England to bounce back in the second test.
 
England only have themselves to blame. Dropping a proper wicketkeeper in foakes cost them a few wickets as well as dropping/no balls a few other chances.

Australia are world test champs for a reason but end of the day the game was close and could've gone either way.

One also has to question, with stokes tactics, it appears he could bowl his old fast bowlers into the ground and the ashes is a LONG series. I

Australia won on the back of little contribution from their two best batsman, what happens when they click?
 
Stokes has bowling depth in the squad. Broad and Anderson won't play all 5 tests. England have rotated them over Stokes captaincy.

Has Potts,tongue,wood and woakes to use.

Australia has more limited options given starc's current form.

I notice it is virtually impossible to spell lose correctly. I must admit, I never realised it was meant to be that hard.

I am one of the guilty ones on occasion, and then am just to lazy to go back and fix it, when I realise, that my finger or auto-correct, slipped up. :(

Difficult, a diamond is hard it is difficult to spell correctly!
