James Taylor is the Man of the Match: Delighted with the win and to make the finals, but credit to Buttler as well. I was trying to concentrate when wickets fell, was struggling a bit and Buttler played an outstanding innings. I've been waiting to get some opportunities and trying to get my side over the line and managed to do that today. I knew if I was there till the end we were going to be around thereabouts. Decent cricket wicket to be fair and the bounce was interesting.
Dhoni: When we started batting I thought we did decent with the new ball and a bit more runs initially would have helped. Good bowling and poor selection of shots led to the low score and 40-50 more runs would have helped. I don't think the wicket played a factor but the English bowlers extract more from these conditions. We have to look at our attack keeping in mind the balance of the side. Two spinners suit us because Ashwin and Jadeja, and Ashwin and Axar can bat a bit while three seamers and a spinner weakens our batting, it's a Catch-22 situation. Playing an extra seamer weakens the batting and even leads to a slow over rate. We will be ready for the Pakistan match and the next few days will be helpful to switch off for some time and freshen up. Test series trains you a lot and we need to get our confidence back in the ODIs.
Eoin Morgan: We made it difficult for ourselves and both sides battled with the conditions. If guys got themselves then there was going to be an opportunity. The guys showed that they are ruthless once they set in, especially Buttler and Taylor. Buttler is excellent and there's more to come. We have gone from strength to strength and our bowling has done well, building blocks on our way to the World Cup.

Love it! These Pakistani lads are going to struggle to do it in 80. They took the batting PP at 30 overs and cough up the in-batsman of Hafeez. Going to struggle from here.
Brendon McCullum, New Zealand captain: We have to be happy with where we are at. We have been playing some perfect games of late, and now the challenge is to maintain that and be consistent going into the World Cup. This has been the ideal preparation for us so we have no excuses come the big event. The good things we have done is give different guys the opportunity to take the lead and execute our game places. We have been able to achieve some special things of late, but we know we are not good enough to take any team in this tournament for granted. It is great to have so many contributors. Thankfully we have been having different guys stand up at times. Kane has been remarkable throughout, and Ross has been special at times too. Support has been amazing both in Test and ODI cricket. We thrive on this and we know how special this event is. It is once-in-a-lifetime for us. We just hope to play the cricket we know we can and produce good results.
Misbah ul-Haq, Pakistan captain: It was a really tough series. We tried out best but we need to improve in every area. We just gave away 370 runs and we need to improve our bowling, especially at the death. If any batsman is set, then they need to continue till the end. It will be different in Australia but I think the pace and bounce will be the same so if we want to do really well we have to tackle that well.

There were many contributions that made our total possible and we knew that playing Pakistan they were always capable of chasing down whatever total in front of them. We have a few days off and I am sure we will be raring to go afterwards.

This team is looking very good as we edge closer and closer to the big day. Surely one of the contenders for the title, along with Australia and South Africa. Well that is it from us here in Napier.

Quite true. Seems like their preparation has been good. Just not sure if they have really been pushed in any of their games. I recall they lost one to Sri Lanka, but they're hardly a force outside of their backyard.

The Proteas toured there recently, and won rather easily - although the Black Caps were weakened (Ross Taylor, Kane Williamson&arguably the fastest bowler in international cricket Adam Milner were all missing).
The problem has never been how the Proteas fare along the way. They've always been consistent hence the high rankings. It's only ever been crunchtime. Slightest pressure applied and they fold.

I think that's about to change. NZ have been going through a transition. Williamson, Bracewell, Boult, Southee, Latham, Corey Anderson, Neesham are all less than 27 years old - some as young as 22/23, while Watling, Guptil&McClenaghan are around 28/29 years old.
After India - who rebuilt earlier than everyone else, NZ alongside England will be the top 3 cricket sides in Tests; while NZ at least will battle with India for ODI supremacy. Of course I'm arguing on the premise that England won't have figured out how to be dominant in LOIs.
Australia do have the talent, and will always among the top, but they haven't played together for any significant amount of time and they are seriously behind those other 3.
Pakistan always pluck absolute gems from anywhere so one can't speak with any speculative certainty about them, but what is certain from my standpoint is that this is the last chance Australia, South Africa and Sri lanka will have to win a major tournament for a very very very long time so they must somehow make it count.
Ajmal and Gazi cleared to bowl again
Pakistan's Saeed Ajmal and Bangladesh's Sohag Gazi can resume bowling in international cricket, after the ICC cleared their bowling actions following remedial work and retests.
At the retests, it was revealed that the amount of elbow extensions in both the offspinners' bowling actions for all their deliveries was within the 15-degree level of tolerance permitted under the ICC regulations for the review of bowlers reported with suspected illegal bowling actions.
However, the umpires are still at liberty to report Ajmal or Gazi in the future if they believe they are displaying a suspect action and not reproducing the legal actions from the retests. Umpires have been provided with images and video footage of the bowlers' significantly remodeled legal bowling actions.
Their retests were held at the Sri Ramachandra University in Chennai on January 24.
Ajmal was suspended from bowling in September after his action was deemed to be illegal for all deliveries. Before he was banned, tests revealed his elbow extension was going up to 42 degrees on average, leading to his suspension. He underwent extensive remedial work on his action with former Pakistan spinner Saqlain Mushtaq. Ajmal went through three unofficial Tests that showed his offspinner and faster ball were within the legitimate 15-degree limit, though his ****ra was still beyond the limit.
Ajmal had withdrawn from Pakistan's World Cup squad in December because the PCB "didn't want to take a risk with his career."
Gazi was reported for a suspect action in Bangladesh's second ODI against West Indies in August last year and was suspended from bowling in October after he was tested in Cardiff. He had been working towards a remedy with Bangladesh spin coach Ruwan Kalpage, under whose supervision he had bowled in the nets during the Zimbabwe series.
Gazi had not been included in Bangladesh's 15-man squad for the World Cup.

Only De Villiers was there for more than 1 world cups as far as I know. So barely any of the players have any history of actually being part of a team that chokes. The media will of put this idea in their head (because it is amusing that we let them) and rub their hands in glee and expectation. Everyone feels under pressure to perform when you know everyone else is wishing you to fail so they can mock you. The only way not to give it power is to genuinly not care about it.
