I am 100% with you on this. But then you get this bleat from Dhoni:

So chuffed for the Sri Lankans. This is a young and experienced team missing the big guns for days gone by (Mahela, Sanga and Dilshan). Happiness! :D

Yeah boo hoo. Every time they lose, I'd like to think it brings them down a peg and makes them realise they're not the centre of the cricket world (even if they might be financially).

Adam Voges Test Batting averages 97.46:twisted:
6 not out in 19 innings helps the averages and a test series against the West indies.
 
Just watched the highlights of India vs Sri Lanka, the 3rd ODI. Really hope the ICC do something to restrict how favorable the pitches are for the home team. Ashwin was turning it square with the new ball in over 1...doesn't bode well for the T20 WC.

ICC is in charge of the pitches for world events not the home team. Personally I wouldn't mind fancy aus on a rank turner our spinners would out bowl their spinners.

McCullum scores fastest hundred in Test history

Brendon McCullum has blasted the fastest century in Test history, a 54-ball effort that broke the record jointly held by Viv Richards and Misbah-ul-Haq. In his 101st and final Test match, McCullum attacked Australia's bowlers relentlessly and brought up his milestone by crashing a four over cover off Josh Hazlewood.

McCullum celebrated to a standing ovation from the crowd at Hagley Oval in Christchurch, raising his bat to all parts of the venue in his adopted home-town. His effort was two balls faster than the previous record 56-ball century scored by Richards against England in Antigua in 1985-86, which was equalled by Misbah-ul-Haq against Australia in Abu Dhabi in 2014-15.

It was all the more extraordinary an innings given that McCullum came in with the score at 32 for 3 in the 20th over, as New Zealand's top order played watchfully against a seaming ball having been sent in by Steven Smith. Kane Williamson scored 7 and took more balls - 69 - than McCullum needed to get to his hundred.

McCullum had been given a major let-off on 39 when he sliced to gully and was brilliantly caught by a diving Mitchell Marsh. However, umpire Richard Kettleborough asked for the third official to check the front foot of bowler James Pattinson and a no-ball was confirmed.

I see that Smith's helmet doesn't have any protection behind the ear. Quite a number of players have the extra padding there with newer helmets. With him turning his back on the delivery like that, he opened himself to the ball hitting him there. He either needs to change his technique or get better protection.

I am pleased that he was able to get up after that. He's a quality player and want to see him around for many years to come.
 
Talking of Steven Smith, I was looking at his Test average yesterday. The lad has a test average of 58.11 from 40 matches (or 73 innings). Exceptionally healthy. That average looks set to climb a little more.

Adam Voges is also out there at the moment; his average is a freaky 97.46 from 14 matches (or 19 innings). Although a late starter in Test cricket (now 36 years old), I wonder how much longer he will be allowed to continue. Kudos to him.

It makes me think that if our Stephen Cook maintains his form, he can keep his place in the team for a while yet.
 
Re Voges - the guy's first class form over the past 3 seasons is incredible. He bulldozed his way in...even Australia must have been reluctant to pick a 35 year old but he gave them no choice.
