Cricket: International Discussion Thread

India will go second if England loses. South Africa would be leading by 16 points on average.

England are in a spot of bother. 2 down, just under 400 to make and a day left. This it's new Zealand match to win the series....

90/4 at stumps. They got the big wicket of cook which was key. Also, the new ball will be available just before lunch tomorrow.

England are under the pump and if they lose SA will be 16 rating points clear at the summit of the rankings

Let's hope the Kiwis can finish them off, they're quite capable of letting them wriggle off the hook. How long ago was a run scored in that match, it was 90/2 when I last checked this morning?

Looks like a close finish, 3 wickets remain with 20 overs left

So just when I was getting frustrated with this game, Zim v Ban in Harare, it's turning out to be extremely interesting, but only if you are supporting Zim.

Zim has the Bangladeshis on the racks here! :)

Zimbabwe 389
Bangladesh 134/8 (51.6 ov)

Bangladesh trail by 255 runs with 2 wickets remaining in the 1st innings

Bit harsh sire especially considering they bowled the opposition out cheaply in both innings.

Second test about to get under way. Seeing as the first out was a dull game, I am going to watch this one closely and hope Zim can pull off a series win here. Go Zim! :)

Bangladesh tour of Zimbabwe, 2nd Test: Zimbabwe v Bangladesh at Harare, Apr 25-29, 2013

9.35 am Zimbabwe win the toss and will bowl

One change for the hosts, Regis Chakabva is in for Timycen Maruma, who has a knee injury. As many as four changes for Bangladesh - Tamim, Mominul, Sajidul and Ziaur are in. Mahmudullah, Nafees, Enamul and Rubel are out. Ziaur makes his Test debut, while Sajidul is playing his first Test in more than five years

Firdose Moonda, our correspondent at the ground, says it is clear and cool, completely different from yesterday, which was cloudy and wet.

Rashed Asger: "Hope the inclusion of Tamim will give an edge to Bangladesh batting power. The have every strength to fight back."

Bangladesh 89/2 (25.0 ov)
Zimbabwe

Zimbabwe won the toss and elected to field

Lunch Most sides would take 89 for 2 after being sent in on a winter morning. And both the wickets were given by Bangladesh. Zimbabwe dropped two catches, and missed numerous run-out chances. Jarvis disappointing with his lack of control. Meth at the opposite end on the control spectrum, moving it this way and that with absolute command. Jahurul tackled swing the best before throwing it away

Into the 2nd session now.

luke: "First chance to comment after sitting for almost two hours in a meeting (I'd forgotten I'd called it :) and felt it'd be rude to cancel) with my phone on my knee under the desk giving updates of dropped catches and missed run outs. 100/2 one has to say BD are all over this ... come on Zim, time to hit back, no!?"

28.6 Jarvis to Tamim Iqbal, OUT, jeez, third waste of the day, and it is the biggest one, that of a well-set Tamim Iqbal, pushes in front of mid off and rushes for the single, Shingi runs in, slides forward and lobs it at the stumps, a direct hit, and Tamim is found short by a foot or so

Tamim Iqbal run out 49 (79b 6x4 0x6) SR: 62.02

Take them any way they come, I say. If they want to throw their wicket/s away, Zim will be gracious in acceptance :)

Bangladesh 171/4 (53.0 ov)
Zimbabwe

Zimbabwe won the toss and elected to field

Tea Bangladesh threw away two more wickets this session, but two of their best, Shakib and Mushfiq, have hung in. They have had close escapes, but have also shown sense

Edit: slow over rate with 7 overs lost in the first 2 sessions

Bangladesh 391 (113.2 ov)
Zimbabwe

Zimbabwe won the toss and elected to field

This ain't a bad total at all. Bangladesh have batted almost four sessions, and have almost 400 on the board. The Zimbabwe openers might have to come out to face an over before the lunch break. Lead Zimbabwe fast bowler returning 1 for 105. Bangladesh tail hanging in today, supporting Nasir Hossain, the last four faced 111 deliveries. Nasir continues to impress, came in at 248 for 5, just before the second new ball, and has converted it into a solid total.

Some solid partnerships required for competitive match. Come on, Zim!
