CRICKET: SA vs Pakistan

Yeah Bish is definately my favourite on sabc, no doubt. unbiased, knowledgeable and speaks well. Next is probably gareth flusk. I never said cass was knowledgeable. I just think she speaks really well, confidently and is pleasing to the ear. And for a chick who probably didnt play much cricket, she knows quite a bit and doesnt speak foolishly. When she doesnt know something she keeps quiet....When some of the others speak (like craig marais) with stuttering, etc. i feel like turning the TV off.

O and did i mention i hate craig marais? :D
Any1 remember he was doing the news on etv? wow was he crap... i think etv fired him and poor sabc (with no1 better) had to take him....
So happy i dont have to see him on etv news anymore.

Cullinan aint bad either

Neil manthorpe isnt bad but he gets a little corny and cliched at times....
But yeah, supersport have the good ones. jackman and haysmen ( i think)

Allan Donald is pretty good too. Does anyone else find that the camerawork is shocking, doesnt seem like the cameramen have ever watched cricket before

Yes, the camera work is shoddy.

Our camera work used to be rated as some of the best worldwide, but the cricket is covered by SABC and not Supersport. So I assume it is SABC cameramen.

How about Lee Irvine. Not sure if he's on SS but I hated him when he was at SABC. Would keep talking non-stop.

I can smell victory

South Africa require another 80 runs with 7

A bit slow but hey Kallis is there

definitely in favor of us now.

Still paranoid about the rain though. Should have played till 13:00 and then take lunch I think, just to get the time in earlier before the rain starts.

LOL! yes ur right. Hes gotta be one of the worst as well... Him and trevor quirk together really makes you wanna turn of ur TV. And another guy. Albie during. Omg, hes gone too. He was the teacher at my bros school.

Lee irvine is the cricket coach at wits.....

Gibbs in trouble

From CricInfo:

Dramatic news just filtering in. South African batsman Herschelle Gibbs has been called to appear before a Cricket South Africa disciplinary committee following remarks he made about a section of the crowd which were transmitted to television viewers by a stump microphone during the fourth day of the first Test between South Africa and Pakistan Sunday.
Gerald Majola, the chief executive, said: "CSA has investigated the matter and we have heard the remarks made by Herschelle Gibbs in response to verbal abuse directed by a number of Pakistan supporters at Paul Harris while he was fielding on the boundary.
"Herschelle says these remarks were for the ears only of his team-mates in his proximity, and were directed in general terms at that section of the crowd that had verbally abused Paul Harris. He has apologised if he has caused offence to anyone.
"However, CSA regards this whole matter in a most serious light and Herschelle will appear before CSA's disciplinary commissioner at the earliest opportunity.

Edit: Sorry, didn't realise there was a thread about this already...my bad!

Although SA have won, i think the pakis have a bit more bite, than what India has.

Hmmm...I have the opposite feeling. I feel India's bowling is much better than Pakistan does. Pak has better batting though. Tests against India were so close...could've been drawn easily or possible Indian win..India just never took the initiative when it was required. Pak spinners aren't very effective even on a turning pitch.

ye i thot india provided a lot more fight...
You must remember that the durban test should have been a draw, if the indians batted properly. And the capetown test could have easily been a draw as well. Indians never capitilised on their tremendous start. Their big name players (tendulkar dravid) failed miserably. Very rare u see both of them go a full series without a 100......even against australia you always see them make atleast 2 100's in a series. tendulkar was in bad form and dravid had an injury...

But i think pakistan has a decent bowling lineup. Not right now with the crap other than asif. But when umar gul and aktar come back they will be streets ahead of the indians....

Still i think sa should win. Finally with Graeme smith coming back into form, we even have a chance at the world cup. When smith is batting well the whole team plays well.. But the problem with smith is hes so inconsistent. He plays well for 3 months out of the year. He either makes double hundreds or 0's. His technique becomes horrible and he cant even hit the ball.. But when he starts playing well he is an asset.. He must try and make sure that his form lasts longer this time

k im not saying hes in form yet :D... but hes looking alot better. Hes actually playing straight (sort off) and timing the ball decently

I think they have a better team, they just missing some players.
They wasted the 4th day, the bowling wasnt all that good, they just played way to cautious, but its their fault I guess.

Haysman no longer works at Supersport. Pommie Mbangwa (sp?) took over his position. Not sure if Robin Jackman is still there, but I really do miss that dude. I think Geoff Boycott was good too. He may have been a little biased towards England but overall he provided unbiased commentary against the other teams and was good at detailing the technical aspects, especially when it came to each player.

If it weren't for Ian Bishop on SABC then the commentary wouldn't be worth listening to, which is kind of embarrassing that we have to bring in commentators from overseas. Anybody remember Jack Bannister? :D

Biased and sour I presume. More to come. SA will waste them IMHO.

Must admit though our bowling is a bit poor. Once u get on top of our bowlers, ideas start running out. They forget how to dry up runs. Aussies play us very well...we really need to work on the problem on tailenders scoring way too many runs. As Aamir Sohail says...our bowlers seem a bit too mechanical where they bowl at tailenders heads all the time without putting thought into it.

I think they are a good team if they don't mess up. Their batting all the way down the order is reminiscent of the old SA 1999.. but anyways come world cup i think they might do very good. Still their team is missing kinda a few big names.

Same SA team is being played today. Yousuf and Akhtar back for Pak. Hope this PE pitch is not as flat as it usually is. For those TV viewers and people who are going to the stadium, enjoy hearing that band play that one song they know over and over and over and over again :P

Accoriding to the groundman, pitch will suit fast bowlers...hmm..This might suit Akhtar...

Go SA!!!
