Cricket: The Women's Cricket Thread

Ladies absolutely sticking it to Thailand. In a tournament where NRR could be a factor, a good win here will be crucial!

Is this available live on the interwebs somewhere? I don't have DSTV Now access.

I swear, if Lee hadn't scored a century, Chetty would be on for player of the match... She's been that good behind the stumps today... Wonder if that's ever happened before in cricket?

EDIT: 73/9.. Luus with her 3rd wicket, impossible to call player of the match. Between Luus and Lee... Probably Lee...

South Africa wins by 113 runs and go top of Group B. South Africa were too good with the ball with Mlaba, Ismail and Luus running through Thailand. Although their fielding was sub par, dropping four relatively easy catches. Another learning experience for Thailand. Onnicha Kamchomphu played nicely for 26 off 21 including a big six off van Niekerk.

Lizelle Lee is Player of the Match for her century. Lee: "It was just one of those days where things paid off for me. We struggled in the powerplay and didn't get as much as we wanted but Sune and I had a good partnership and that set us up. She did extremely well hitting a fifty as well."

Just a win now over Pakistan or the West Indies will see us through but oh my God, that is as far as we'll go if we don't catch properly.

If Pakistan beat England, that would effectively put England out!! Ooooooh... no pressure England...

Sornnarin Tippoch: "All credit to Lizelle. She hit the ball really hard. But we didn't get our lines and lengths right and it's something to improve on, our fielding as well. It was a big score on the board but we tried to go out there and back ourselves and play with a bit of courage and tried to get those runs on the board."

Dane van Niekerk: "To be honest, no (I'm not happy). The box we wanted to tick was to take the win. But I have to give credit to Lizelle for that century and Sune who accelerated at the back end with Chloe. But I think our fielding let us down today. We always want to be at our best no matter who we play and when we play and whatever the circumstances are and I don't think we were at our 100 per cent best today. It definitely is a worry. We speak about it a lot. I thought we took our chances against England but we can't be inconsistent."

QDK could learn a lot from Dane on how to conduct interviews!

An early wicket for Pakistan throws a tiger into the chicken roost!

England are rocketing along now. Simply unstoppable!

Pakistan need 159 to win, which would be a very impressive chase on a slow-ish pitch. Knight starred for England, with Sciver and Wilson also contributing. It could have been more, with England only managing six runs off the last eight balls, but that still looks like a healthy first-innings total.
