India are 69/1 after 10.5 overs. Tendulkar gone. Complete mixup betweeen him and Sehwag. Tendulkar pushedthe ball to midwicker and set off for the single. Sehwag didn't move. Tendulkar was at the non strikers end when the keeper removed the bails. ( think donald and Klusener).

They are rather at a big disadvantage here with udrs(through their own fault). Everyone else is now used to it but they have only used it once and then kumble was still captain.

Good win for india in the first game but bangladesh didn't bat badly, india's score was just way too much.

Why the fark were India using the referral system is they are so against it?

Sreesanth to Tamim Iqbal, no run, 137.9 kph, We have the first referral of the World Cup. Umpire Dharmasena has said not out to Sree's lbw appeal and Dhoni has referred it. Sree has bowled a monster of a yorker and it has swung in viciously as Tamim looks to get across and the n arrests the forward movement, pulls the foot back as it crashes into his toes, and falls over. Sree thinks it is plumb, but replays suggest it might have marginally missed leg stump. Banana swing on that, it swerved into line and then darted back to land on leg. Replays say it might have carried on down the leg, so India have lost one referral.

It's just far too long and it's going to be almost a week before we start seeing more evenly matched games. To start the tournament with a Bangladesh vs. India game was awful. The opening game of a World Cup should be a tustle to remember not that unmatched snoozefest.

Drop Botha, bring in Lopsy and you have balance in the bowling department.

They could easily cull 4 or 5 teams from the World cup. Think this has actually been discussed before. Kenya, Canada, Ireland and Netherlands need not be there, Zim and Bangladesh border line. The same issues exists with the Rugby world cup, too many teams simply making up the numbers. Should rather have 2 separate competitions with teams of equal or similar strength competing...

Top 10 teams, 1 pool, play each other once, top 4 teams play the best of 3 semi finals, top 2 contest a single final.. Or is that too many games?? The finalists would play a maximum of 13 matches. How many would the finalists play now in the current format?

EDIT: So 1 semi final, reduces the over all matches played to 11...

It also chases away TV audiences... I lost interest after the first 20 overs today. The earlier game was farcical; watched the first 5 Kenyan wickets fall and then switched off.
