Cricket world cup discussion thread

JP not disappointing at all. Hope we continue using him as the 3rd spinner option, great to be able to fit van Wyk in the side. Really like the balance of this side atm. Also want Faf to get some overs to see how his part time holds up here, need to know if he can become a good option because there'll invariably be a time in a future game where our bowling will be hit around and we may need to use him.
Hope Lopsy gets a chance in a future game to see how he does.

Think its going to be a bit hard for him to make the side, especially on the sub-continent. Where prodimenantly spinners are used. I think at the end of the day, they going to have to choose between Botha and Taahir and decide from there whats needed more. Quality spinning or increase the depth of batting.

Van Wyk should of taken the gloves a loooooong time ago. AB not very confident behind the wickets and Van Wyk the no. 1 keeper for Titans even if AB plays

Good move I think, AB is far more valuable in the field and van Wyk is a specialist keeper.

I like this team. I'm sure Peterson, Fap, Kallis and JP can cover 20 overs between them, so Botha is most certainly not being missed. We need the extra batting depth more than we need Botha.

Netherlands 120 all out. I mean, I predicted 259 all out, and I would've thought that is a good score, but the Proteas played brilliantly today. Well done boys!

Yep excellent performance, let's hope they don't change the team. The only change should be Lopsy in for Peterson, depending on conditions. Peterson bowled well today despite going for a few boundaries.

Agreed. It's a pity we haven't seen Lopsy yet!! I think he would be ideal on these pitches. He's got a sweet slower ball and he gets good movement away from the batsman and importantly, he's in form!!! I'm not a big fan of Pieterson either. He's okay but okay is not really good enough at this level... is it??...
 
Lol in other news, Pakistan are 93/4 after 23.4 overs against Canada. Go Canada!!!

This is a concern. If we want AB to be a match winner, it has to be with bat in hand.

I think there is a strong case here for Morne van Wyk being the specialist keeper in the side.

An earlier post (Mike, I think?) stated that Kallis, JP, Peterson and Faf should be good enough for 20 overs amongst them.

And if they want a 3rd genuine seamer, bring Lopsy in for Peterson.

agree with that 100%, i'm a big supporter of Morne van Wyk playing for the Proteas, as keeper, and batting at 7. he can smack the ball if its needed, or bat decent [he is an openings batsmen] if it is so required.
 
firstly, brilliant performance by the boys! Amla and AB paced the innings perfectly! I also think that AB is batting with such maturity. He reads the game situation well and is adapting his playing style accordingly. this is a hallmark of great players!

I tend to agree with everyone about the balance of the side. the side looks much better with Van Wyk in the team. Faf, Duminy and Kallis should get 10 overs between them.
