Considering we were 117/5 that is an incredibly good comeback!!! Who the hell do we leave out when AB and tahir are fit?

In the end, JP and Ingram combined scored more than Ireland. The Irish tried hard and gave us a spot of bother at one point, a bit disappointing that they won't go through after the fight they've shown in the WC. Hoping that they get ODI status soon - they're at least as good as Zimbabwe and Bangladesh.

I say Faf and Botha. Kallis has shown that he still has some oomph as a bowler, and together with JP I don't think there should be much of a problem with the 5th bowler.

Today we saw the value of having an Ingram lower down the order, and a van Wyk higher up.

@SinghDude, Being given the favourites tag is the worst thing to do to the proteas.

I think you right.

Hey I agree with u for once. Though we will miss botha's batting.

Just seen final result now (was at a business function with no live tv of the cricket ) and pleased we closed it out smartly as did.

Having bowled Steyn and Morkel so sparingly, I still wonder why they did not give Parnell and/or Lopsy a run today. Do hope they give it serious thought for our game against Bangladesh. They need game time and cannot afford them to be rusty if they are suddenly needed.

Smith and Kallis still haven't fired yet, but still time in tournament for them to contribute. Nice to see Ingram get a run and perform ... didn't seem to rusty to me.

Drop Smith and make Botha captain!

/dons flamesuit

Yeah, don your flamesuit ... but we'll still find you! :p

Seriously though, Botha is not consistent enough to justify a permanent place in the starting 11. With Peterson and Tahir firing, Botha is relegated to back-up ... bench warmer if you will ;)

With Tahir and Peterson playing, they both spin the ball away from a right handed batsman as their stock delivery. JP is not in the same offspin bowling league as Botha...

Well done SA :). A good win even though it wasn't look like it at the beginning of our innings.

We've skittled 50 wickets in 5 games - very nice :D.

Smith's greatest performance in the World Cup? Wearing a grin at the post-match interview after the other 10 guys get the win :p.

Explains a lot - hehehe!!

Kolkata - Morné van Wyk didn't just appear to be asleep behind the stumps in South Africa’s thrilling victory over India last Saturday – he was!

Proteas spokesperson Lerato Malekutu confirmed on Tuesday that Van Wyk had accidentally taken a sleeping pill shortly before the game.
------------
“It sounds as if Morné confused the sleeping pill with a vitamin pill,” said Malekutu.

“By the time he realised his mistake, the match had almost started and he was struggling to stay awake.”

Holy crap for someone who had taken a sleeping pill he actually kept wicket rather well .

The nice thing is i get the feeling it does not matter who plays, they can do the job which is nice to see. We have a winning mentality now. The tag was removed and now we use that indian memory as inspiration and win the world cup!!!!!!!

Reverses question...

If Smith was not skipper would he still be in the starting XI after his poor run of late?

I doubt Smith would make the starting IX right now. Perhaps the tests, yeah, but not the ODI's where his form has been below his best for some time now.

Glad I am a selector. Nice to have a headache over bowling selection right now.

What are you guys talking about keeping well?? He took the sleeping pill before the india game and he did miss sehwag early in that. So it definitly affected him.
