Crime Stats Link to Elections

Just a thought from recent observations.

Recent organised armed robberies have specifically been targeting large stores.
Would there be be some way to compare Police stats of this nature to around
election times and see if there is a general upward trend?

Maybe this is too big an ask of our police force.

The ANC have said that crime has decreased but they are not willing to release the crime stats as they will be accused of using it for electioneering. They committed to releasing them every 6 months but have not released them for about a year. Lets see what they look like after the election.

I would personally love a law where politicians are held accountable for statements that they make leading up to an election. Lie and you are fired.

Not only fired but tried for treason and betrayal of the people you are supposed to lead.

The exact same punishment as corrupt officials should get and then tried in the International Courts of Justice (if that's possible) to stop "guilty" parties being protected by their buddies.

Crime's only decreasing on paper, because fewer people report it.
When my car was broken into, there were big signs all over the police station saying "Don't report cellphone theft unless for insurance purposes"

Maybe they're financing an electoral campaign? Who knows? Maybe the "gravy dish" is getting a smidge empty.
