Crimson Desert thread

Another patch released:

Hell they are pumping out updates.. Really good to see.

Just a question for those currently playing. KB/M or Controller? It seems they are tweaking a lot more on KB/M atm in the patches.

Complete personal opinion:

Ignoring the controller-focused nonsense.. .the game may be large but it's not all that engaging. Basically a weird mix of multiple things all for.. gear, slots and skills.

Still grinding starter region - (and I do mean grinding) - and compared to something like Witcher 3 ... .there's not much there to keep us playing aside from "do thing to get thing to do thing to get thing to do thing to get faction points for things"

Faction progress feels empty so far.

The platform stuff is just... strange. Haven't yet gotten the point of it. It's more like "everyone enjoys jumping puzzles, right?" than a rewarding contribution to the experience.

Had an NPC straight up ignore me because I was wearing a fire helm. Literally. Had to take the helm off to progress.

Graphics are... OK-ish? Silly amount of shiny around the place for no reason.

The random encounters are pretty much samey.

So far - 5 or 6/10. Hoping it opens up later.

vs Witcher 3/Cyberpunk 2077 - 4/10.

So many people jusy giving an ass opinion, until they play it and see it isn't.

The plantlife, however, is janky. Bounces around like a metronome. It's cool I can mow the lawn but having the entire field bouncing back and forth like an epileptic grasshopper is offputting. Pretty sure the devs have never actually touched grass. Or seen it.

Yeah the wind is too strong if you go to the jungle area where the Shai are it actually becomes disorientating. The lighting shining through all the tree branches in what feels like a tornado makes you feel like you're below a disco ball.

You can turn this down btw > Options > Accessibility > Particle Effects Quality.

Some scenery are spectacular but some just passable and others like indoor lighting downright bad.

Overall most places fall in the first category though.

I'm over 60 hours in and can see myself easily doing another 60. This game is just hitting like I haven't experienced in a very long time.

30'ish hours for me and had my first interaction with the dragon last night. Fighting Hexe Marie tonight.

Some puzzles are annoying me and I'm getting really tired of all towns except the starting town being hostile to me. There are things I want to do ffs.

Yes I am aware I need to liberate them first but with these types of never ending games I prefer to do the main quests first as that is how you unlock stuff. Now it's biting me in the ass.

Game looks good. I like playing games that feed my OCD where I can go anywhere and collect everything. Will wait a while to play though for mods. Mods like infinite storage will be a must have.
Last night's patch gave us 1000 storage at max camp upgrade.

Great mods are out already. Has been for a while. I use :

Mods Manager

Kliff to Damiane character swap + hide everything you do not want shown, and I do mean everything. It auto-apprears during tasks and combat. All outfit appearance will be in upcoming updates. Damiane in default gear for now. Great mod.

Female voice for Kliff if swapped to Damiane. Yes, an easy task for AI

Configurable ini you configure yourself to adjust stamina usage as wanted. You can fly and climb forever if you want.

The best save editor you will ever see. Read guidelines.

That is what my Kliff looks like fully outfitted and a level 5 legenday horse only he can use. See, nothing showing at all outside tasks/combat.

Will finish the main story early evening. The final mission is extremely hard. Then I'm upgrading the camp, doing the witches questline and then faction quests. Gear hunting and puzzles inbetween.

Game is unplayable without this mod - https://www.nexusmods.com/crimsondesert/mods/355

Sending your crew on missions take 16h-3d and in game hours are very close to our real life hours.

Fully upgraded my camp in what would otherwise have taken me 2 real weeks.

Oh and, Pailune is a nice place and all, but let me warn you of this now - the final camp upgrade is the move to Pailune, a big city. Move there and be prepared to get lost and run 200m stretches between your storage chest and NPC's every time you go there.

Its abundantly clear that this really is an abandoned MMO.

See this is why I'm a PC gamer. One week for gentlemanly mods and 3 weeks for a character creator. One day to combine them. Hell in another 3 weeks all bitches in camp will be naked.

These PC guys don't **** around.

/ Jokes aside and back to the actual game I finished it and completely forgot about elemental skills. Will go do some puzzles to unlock them tonight.

When is it on 80% discount?

I don't think it will get any sort of discount soon. They know the product they have and what it's worth.

The real issue for me is how regional pricing screwed us. SA Rand pricing is even more expensive than US and EU pricing or is it the weak Rand.

Anyways for now cough hypervisor cough cough.
