Crimson Desert thread

When is it on 80% discount?
Will probably be -30% next big Steam sale.

I can't wait for the new Damiane skills so that I can do all content as I'm using a character swap mod now but its still using the male skeleton so animations are male.

Damiane is far faster and better to control than Kliff who is much slower and heavier. She also has better aerial skills.

That said, consistent Friday night pactches have been breaking mods for 3 weeks now so I suspect a boring Saturday, again, while all the mod makers scramble to update, again.

I don't think it will get any sort of discount soon. They know the product they have and what it's worth.

The real issue for me is how regional pricing screwed us. SA Rand pricing is even more expensive than US and EU pricing or is it the weak Rand.

Anyways for now cough hypervisor cough cough.

Jirr I was tempted, but that HV freaks me out..

If you are willing to install that kak on your PC then might as well just disable Windows Defender and whatever other AV too, open all your ports and download a dark web browser as a new browser.

Or, here's a thought, just buy the ****ing game.

Patch is out. You can now use the other characters for everything. You can hide gear on your back and you can now teleport while in movement incl. climbing and swimming.

And mods are working.

Also, I forgot to link this earlier but for anyone also trying to unlock all their elemental skills use this vid -

Yes, you need guides for this. Just like you do for POE, Warframe and BDO. If that's a problem for you go play Diablo instead or something.

The frequent patches are cool. I really hope they work a bit more on the traversal generally, though. Constantly getting stuck or stumbling over even small rocks and slight changes in elevation is super annoying. This is something Assassin's Creed does really well. Also, the quests where you have to ride a horse with one of your companions is aggravating as hell. Impossible to move properly. The smallest bump into a part of the terrain or an NPC brings both to a stop and they refuse to move for multiple seconds.

Game is unplayable without this mod - https://www.nexusmods.com/crimsondesert/mods/355

Sending your crew on missions take 16h-3d and in game hours are very close to our real life hours.

Fully upgraded my camp in what would otherwise have taken me 2 real weeks.

Oh and, Pailune is a nice place and all, but let me warn you of this now - the final camp upgrade is the move to Pailune, a big city. Move there and be prepared to get lost and run 200m stretches between your storage chest and NPC's every time you go there.

Its abundantly clear that this really is an abandoned MMO.

Why don't you just "rest" or do a faction quest while the workforce does its thing?

Anyway, I suppose we all play the game in our own way. I'm just really taking my time and having a blast.

you can now teleport while in movement
Dumbest, most aggravating, mechanic ever. This is what vibe coding produces. WOnder how long it took them to hunt it down.

That it was still there at release.... .says things

Well, firstly, because there are hundreds of things to do and I have only so much time to do it.

Secondly by default you can only sleep in a bed once per day legit and our max timeskip is 12h, not 24h.

You know what vibe coding produces. You are currently playing a game vibe coding produced. Its called Star KAK. You know, that one kak game where your first patch took 6 months.

Yeah I get you. For me it became overwhelming so I thought screw it, will just take it super slow and whatever happens, happens. I normally set some insignificant side quest as a marker for general direction and then just go on foot or to a teleport spot and on foot from there and end up being distracted (in a good way) by a thousand different things on the way. I don't think I've followed the main quest side of things at all. They just seem to progress on their own.

I mod just to speed things up a bit mostly. I'm close to 70h in now with main quest done and I still get lost, confused and sidetracked all the time. So much so I decided screw that at this rate I'm getting nowhere slowly so now I'm purely concentrating on Faction quests. Of which there are over 440, so ja.

Still not sure what unlocks what. All I know is that you have to do what there is to do and then when those are done more will unlock. One faction chain can stop and then you need to progress another faction chain to come back and progress again.

Like I said a few days ago, very MMO-like in structure.

People used to MMO's will recognize it but the general single player gamer will find this problematic. Your quests log will just disappear and then you have to go and find something else to do yourself before it pops up again.

One thing I do miss from BDO though is the auto-travel and highlighted navigations. I don't think I've ever opened my map so many times (especially while on horse) than I did in this game and I'm only like 14% completed overall.

Had a truly epic combat moment this weekend - was pure cinema. I feel woefully lost with all the abilities and combos and powerups but I found when I slowed down and chained things together it started to click. Keep in mind this is not my normal sort of cup of tea at all. But when a game has your jaw dropped in blissful disbelief it's doing something right.

Things start happening when you start slotting Abyss gears into your weapons and assigning them to attacks.

Remember you can find weapon that you may not want to use but it can come with an Abyss gear mimicking boss attacks. Then just go to a witch, remove it from the weapon you don't want and slot into the weapon you prefer using.

You can finish most (not the bosses, very hard content) the witch faction early, They are just go to ruins, clear ruins and then complete a puzzle that require you to find broken pieces within the ruins to repair them. You can do the bosses when you are geared for them.

Here's how to find all witches as there's no one shop for all, they offer different things - https://www.powerpyx.com/crimson-desert-all-witch-locations/

EDIT : Forgot - get the Force Current skill before trying to do witch puzzles, it'll make your live a while lot easier. With it you can just Axium rotate things and then Force palm them into place immediately. Without it you need to climb on them and then force palm them into place.

So many things that seem hard, annoying or impossible have in-game solutions build in. Worried about stealing? Use the Great Thieve Gloves and you can steal stuff right under the person's nose. Having a hard time understanding the card game? There's a helmet that lets you see the other players cards. Tired of buying arrows all the time? Research infinite arrows and the get some explosive arrows... There are magic tools. There's a magic fishing rod that completely eliminates the mini-game and auto reels them in. At 100 affection vendors get new stock and NPCs gift you items. At 100 contribution all vendors in the region restock again. And the list goes on.

Yeah a lot of that stuff I'm doing but only found one witch so far - she's been sorting the socketed stuff.

get the Force Current skill before trying to do witch puzzles

This makes sense and actually drove me a bit nuts. I've encountered at least two sites where I have the things in place but couldn't lock stuff in so gave up for now. Another thing I'm confused about is certain enemies drop these floating relic type artifacts. There seems like something needs to be done with them but if I just leave them then I recover them at the camp provisions area. Am I missing something there?

Keen on getting it for that open world fix

Not so keen on the price

Witch locations besides the first one won't be shown on your map at all so remember that link.

And are you talking about Abyss Cells? Just pick them up for now. You need them for synthesis (combining Abyss cores give you back random ones) as well as upgrades.
