Good morning,

Please be advised of the following :

As a precautionary security measure, Absolute Hosting has temporarily restricted access to the SmarterMail webmail interface while critical security patches and upgrades are applied across all SmarterMail servers.

Email delivery and other mail services remain operational during this maintenance; however, access to webmail will be unavailable until the required updates have been completed.

This action has been taken proactively to ensure the continued security and integrity of our email hosting environment.

We appreciate your patience and will restore webmail access as soon as the maintenance has been completed.

We can confirm that the critical security patching and upgrades have now been successfully completed across all Absolute Hosting SmarterMail servers.

IMPORTANT CHANGE AFFECTING CLIENTS THAT HAVE 2FA ENABLED ON THEIR EMAIL ACCOUNTS

One item in particular that all customers should be aware of is a change to App Passwords. For users who have 2FA enabled for their SmarterMail account and currently use App Passwords, they should be aware that we have increased the security surrounding App Passwords. As a result, all existing App Passwords will be regenerated after the upgrade. As system administrators, you will want to notify your users of this change.

After the update, affected users will need to log in to webmail and a new modal will pop up with their new App Passwords. Once the user enters the new App Password in their email client, the client will work as normal. (They can also be found in the user's Settings area.)

The precautionary restriction previously placed on the SmarterMail webmail interface has been removed, and webmail access has been fully restored.

All SmarterMail servers are now operating on the latest patched release.

Thank you for your patience and understanding while we completed this important security maintenance.
