hey guys
Got crossfire today but theres no performance gain(might be worse). What should my bios on my mother board be? Im sure i read somewhere that you've gotta change something or optimise please help. thanks in advance
 
did you connect the two cards with the bridge?
 
Haha im not completely usless:) yes they are connected by the xfire bridge.
 
Using 8.12 with crossfire enabled, any other driver/s i need?
 
from my reading on such issues as xfire/SLI, sometimes you have to set the game profile to know to use xfire/SLI. Might that not be the case?

Which games have you tested?
 
Tried GTA 4 and Crysis warhead. Has any1 here got xfire on my kinda mother board?

maybe with some 4870x2's in crossfire over a single setup, in some games, for Now - but two 4850's should beat one 4870 no problem....

what are you using to measure the performance? 3dmark?

Haven't done 3dmark yet, last time i tried vantage it just crashed. I've done the GTA4 benchmark haha Results...

THERE's your problem! AFAIK gta IV is no-a-working pretty well perfomance wise, and no setup will run it properly as per this thread

These problems include glitchy textures, repeated crashes and the fact that the game won't run smoothly on higher graphics settings even with the best hardware money can buy. We tested that last issue ourselves, though we were limited by the fact that the game currently doesn't support SLI.

run 3dmark 06 with and without xfire and you will REALLY be able to see...

2 x 4850's in XFire performs between a 4870 and a 4870x2 - not bad.

it's not 10% better as two 4870's in Xfire compares to a 4870x2 and does *sometimes* beat it.
 
Well great news my warhead now says i've used too many licenses, I HATE ORIGINAL GAMES MORE AND MORE EVERYDAY. I am soon heading to piracy tired of this ****, now its weeks of fighting wit EA to play a game i paid for. I've only ever installed it once and uninstalled. Then formatted now it doesn't work with second install.

I dont have 3dmark06, why doesn't vantage work?

vantage only works on vista (dunno what u have)
just download a crack then dude...

I would really suggest you get your hands on a benchmarking app though...

edit: my 4870x2 came with it's own, licenced version of vantage - check if you didn't get any benchmarking software with your card..
 
Its really not using both gpu's haha used furmark to bench and riva to check for usage only one GPU is getting used but it registers i have two actice GPU's on furmark. I can post a pic of the usage but its 1650x1080 and im sure you guys can trust im not lying haha

he's got an E8400...

have you tried COD4? I know there's a setting in the game which says"dual gpu's", so if you try with that on, and that off, then you should see a performance increase or a lack of... also try maybe see if one of the cards are not bust(run system with each card).

check heat maybe? as that might be why the cards are not liking it

I'm sure you have some other games that you can benchmark with?
 
Strange as i had the exact same system and my XF 4850's would klap my single 4870, no more ideas from my side
