What caused Capitec's total blackout

Capitec says its nationwide outage was the result of a global problem caused by cybersecurity platform provider Crowdstrike.

Crowdstrike confirmed the issue on Friday morning, saying a "content deployment" was responsible for sending Windows computers around the world into a dreaded Blue Screen of Death boot loop.

All staff running windows had the same this morning. Teams and WhatsApp channels were chaos.

What's this friggen R5 charge on my statement for this morning?

Description just says "Crowdstrike's fault"

You are paying for someone else's fck ups. Pretty much how the ANC works, you should be used to it by now.

You know how someone here I think it's @epah always says they aren't a real bank?

Well running Windows on literally every single end-point kind of cements that right there and they are running around like headless chickens unable to fix it.

They are up and running. There have been much longer outages on other banks.

CrowdStrike wining-and-dining MS E5 customers with "Don't put all your security-eggs in 1 basket", only to fumble things completely.

I guess all of next weeks stories will be about Crappytech kissing Crowdstrike goodbye.

If this had happened to FNB they would have made you believe that it was just another Ebucks reward.
