Yes, I always tought Crt's are better than LCd's:

CRTs have many pros: they are inexpensive, dependable, have good clear pictures and can be viewed from any angle.

arguments continue that CRTs remain better suited to graphics professionals and to those who require consistent color regardless of viewing angle. Video editors, game developers or anyone who works with fast moving images in a professional capacity might also prefer a CRT

Do any Graphic artists here confirm the above, and do you prefer CRT's.

I know for gaming its better as lower rez games dont look good on LCD's

I have a 20" LG lcd and a 17" (packard bell) crt - and I swear the crt blows the lcd out of the water. Actually i've never seen such a crisp image on a monitor before.

IMO whatever the slight differance is in quality from todays LCDs, does not make up for the amount of desk space a CRT takes up. Could you imagine a 26" CRT on your desk :o

Its a damn pity that manufacturers have stopped making CRTs'!!!!

very hard to find new ones

you're taking the piss out of us arent u?
and then you going to tell us your favourite things to do is use your CB and watch A-team and McGyver? You know it 2009 dont u? :D:D

The only thing that pushes LCD to the forefront is the low power consumption and the fact that it takes up much less space than a CRT.

CRTs also used to give me major headaches after just a few hours.

There's a big difference between the old curved crt's and the newer ones. The refresh rates improved dramatically. People who make comparisons are usually thinking about that grey box they used to work on.

i dunno man, its like hanging onto your collection of stiffies and stiffy drive :)

ok but seriously, I also wasnt impressed with my first few encounters going LCD. I thought LCD was crap. Then I got myself a decent Rig and graphics card with a proper 23:24 and 26" full HD Samsung LCD. WOW, it blew me away. This in turn led me to throw out all my dvd's and now I only watch HD and Blu ray/MKV on it. The new games rock on it as response times are amazing and its better on the eyes. Software packages look amazing on it aswell, the detail and clarity is unsurpassed. Now, if I look at a CRT it looks fuzzy...

Yeah I know, I use an lcd regularly like I said. Now I'm at work using an old Samsung 17" CRT and it's horrible, just blurry and poor colour definition, gives me a headache etc. But the 17" I use at home is a whole different game altogether. You have to see how a good quality crt can output before you can make a proper judgment about them in general. Ok there are a lot of downsides and in general i'll stick with an lcd for larger screen sizes because of the desk space issue - but up to about 20" I'll rather take a good quality crt.

When comparing my 2333SW's colour and detail-level to my 17" CRT, I preferred the clarity of the CRT. But a few days of languishing in HD widescreen 1920x1080 gaming goodness very quickly drowned that perception out. Adding the sudden increase in elbow room on the desktop caused some very warm, happy thoughts about current LCD's.

ROFL, people still use CRT's?

Headaches,
epileptic spams,
little screen realistate,
no desk space,
not even true flat?

No thanks, my Sammy T260 has a better picture quality than any CRT I've ever had. Or have I just conveniently forgotten?

Then you used to own a crap CRT.
Never got a headache from them. Perhaps people should figure out that refresh thing.
Still find they have better picture quality than LCD. Used to work on a 21" SONY Trinitron monitor used on some SGIs and those were fantastic.
My doctor however says I should not have moved that 30KG monitor around the office that much 'cos now my back is broken. :(

Still running my Philips 19" CRT. Unfortunately I run it at 1600x1200 and this is kinda the limit with it. Hoping to finally replace the old boy with a new HP LCD sometime, but I'm not getting rid of the CRT.

Multiples, and we know the "refresh thing", ;)

Belive me, a couple of weeks on a good 22" - 26" LCD will be enough reason to toss that old CRT.

Probably :D but I'm keeping the CRT as the monitor for a O2 and possibly a Octane2 if I get it. :D
