Cryptocurrency Mining

Yeah indeed, make crap load money then starts shipping them to clients.

Perfect business modelthey have. Nothing wasted. Sell the second hand at inflated prices. Mine with the new ones. And the second hand always sell out.

This thread has been quiet. I see plenty 8Gb 1070s on Amazon for $400ish these days. Has the dust finally settled?

Actually used to be non-existent. You talking about 8Gbs?
Yes. I missed 17 Asus gtx 1070 cards for 359 dollars when amazon froze my account for a day and they were gone . Mini 1070 were also 329 and 350 dollars same time but then miners jumped from RX to 1070 and wiped them out

Aah... yeah, I was like a week late when I wanted to start. I'm glad though - I think I'm happier on ASICs.

Won't really be worth it with a single card though.

At the current rate using nicehash 650-800 a month. That’s 650-850 you didn’t have

Edit. If you sit on the earned btc, it could turn into double or triple in a few months. That is off course if it doesn’t crash like you’re hoping it will.

In exchange for a noise PC running 24x7. No that's not going to work for me.

Got a Zotac AMP (Base: 1607 MHz): https://www.zotac.com/us/product/graphics_card/zotac-geforce-gtx-1070-amp-edition

I thought the mining software would push the card to the max where the fans run at max. Not so?

If you use the legacy version of nicehash you can add extra parameters. You can set the intensity. For example my 1080ti in my gaming rig mines also 24/7. If I use the rig I just set the intensity lower so that I do not get stutter or lag while using it.

Regarding the fans, you can control these with zotacs own software or MSI afterburner. If you room is coolish you can easily run the fan at 50/60% maybe even lower if your intensity is set lower. It won’t be that loud.

Just give it ago. Nothing to lose really.

Wear & tear on the PSU, mobo, CPU, SSD, HD, RAM & GPU. R500 a month doesn't seem worth it to me. I'd rather keep it in a new condition.

The ASIC miners sound more interesting though. But the 3 months wait, risk of it getting lost and only a 6 months warranty doesn't do it for me.
