Cryptocurrency Mining

3x S9’s wanted for R60k
Hi all, don’t shoot me down yet, here’s my thinking.
In the “good old days” not so long ago, an S9 would make you $600 pm (if your electricity was free).
Say you paid R50 000 for it.
Now the current calculator says you MAY make $200 pm again electricity excluded (unrealistic but lets use it to establish machine price).
Something is only worth what people are willing to pay for it. So now it’s making a two thirds less.
This means the machine is now worth R16 666.
Which is reflected by Bitmain.com’s pricing, to land a $1312 miner here would cost about R19000.

Currently it’s unviable including electricity to run them.

Does anyone want to free up R60k for a new project? I saw 2x S9’s advertised in Cape Town for R40k. I am in Germiston.
They must be very new and under warranty please. I would like to buy off mybroadband hoping that people here have a reputation to uphold, rather from Joe Soap.
Please remember I am a newb miner taking a leap. I am going to take a loan for this, as I am a teacher, so please don’t schny me with a faulty machine as that would sink me and not be ayoba.
Even if you have one or 2 to let go I will consider it.
Thanks in advance.

Don't do it.
Invest that money elsewhere.

Contact me.

I don't have an S9. Something similar though.

So looks like Monero train is up and running. Difficulty dropped to almost 1/3rd and profitability almost double than ETH for RX cards.

Thanks, I was reading about problems with undervolting AMD cards in linux and didn't want to go through the effort if it doesnt work.

Anyone running xfx rx580 8GB hynix mem ? would like to know power consumption on the card...

That is the only Monero (XMR is only the ticker). If there was a forked coin it would be called something else.

Right, it was a stupid question in retrospect xD.

I'm checking it out now. I see my rig uses less power mining it compared to eth so going to mine it until the morning to check out the stats.
