Lbry and Equihash that is all that you worry about with Nvidia the rest you leave to AMD

I find Dagger to be way more profitable than Equihash, even with my humble little setup. Do the AMDs just handle it better, rather than it being a matter of profitability?

Dagger is profit hence AMDs popularity.

Sucks on Nvidia stability wise. One rig is fine, you can reboot every now and again.

100+ ie headless farm setup is a different story.

Ya well us mere mortals dream of having those kinds of problems :)

For others who have ordered from Bitmain (Antminers) - what was your experience?
Some interesting things that came up when I ordered:

1) You place the order at Bitmain before you get shipping costs. I ordered 2x L3+ and shipping was just over R2k with DHL.

2) You can pay in BTC or USD or LTC. I paid in USD and had to go into the bank to do a SWIFT transfer which takes 4-5 days to effect. Bitmain don't send an invoice - only an order note. The bank says they may actually need an invoice for import purposes (likely SARS) but will submit anyhow and see if it comes back. Bitmain reserve the right to cancel the order if payment is not received within 3 working days. I sent them the transfer for I handed in at the bank, hopefully that's enough to hold them off for a week.

3) The bank phoned me to ask if I had an import permit or if this is a 'once off'. I said it's a once off but it may turn into something bigger in which case i'll apply for an import permit.

Bitmain have 1600w power supplies for $100 but they're not available for sale at the moment - too much demand. It would likely be a separate order or I'll find a platinum PSU locally.

Keep this in mind next time... https://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/867992-Imports-Scott-s-Shipping-Services

He does everything from sourcing the best price, courier, import etc and deliver to your door.

EDIT: Happy Page 100!

What's the warranty implication of buying a GPU from overseas? No local warranty? I guess it depends on which brand you buy.

I have 4 x 1060's running at the moment, i have noticed that NH keeps them on Lyra2v2 (and almost never switches) but the mBTC/day jumps are huge at the moment although the hashes stays quite constant... (about 95MH/s for the 4 cards together).

I just switched off all the other algos just keeping Lbry & Equihash & will see if mBTC/day stays a bit more constant.

Going to try to get claymore working soon, but where is a reliable place to find the pools? Or can we join yours Thor187?

Hey guys, Ive been on the btc bandwagon for quite some time, Never tried the mining thing. Bitcoin it out , so I would like to give ETH a go.

I tried it this past weekend with a GTX710 to get the hang of things, but couldn't get it to work. this includes etherminer and claymore
The card is just too crappy, I think it hasn't got enough memory only 1GB.

So my question , do you need memory for mining ? Im under the impression the CUDA GPU does all the work , If I had to buy 3 GTX 1050s with 2GB memory each , will it be a waste of time ?

yes when mining eth its about the dag file that gets loaded into the mem of the gpu.. current file is 1.6gb and they are going to increase it to over 3gb in the near future then a 4gb gpu will struggle.

No, not really. a 1050 does about 20 zar a day at the moment. So if you think 60 bucks per day is too little for you, then yes, it is a waste of time.

Actually toying with the idea to create a crypto currency for https://platinumwealth.co.za - so a fork of bitcoin (will need a catchy name), but only usable on the forum (for events, prizes etc, maybe later partnering retailers or some jazz) and then you earn it either by post contributions, reps etc and it will also be mineable.

Sounds like something fun and harm free, basically a financial forum with it's own little economy. Thoughts?

I've made this comment a couple of weeks ago and nobody even took note of it :p

Infinite. We can even create a MyBBCoin and use it as currency on MyBB.

rpm can take that mining rig away from Kevin to do the mining.

Ive been toying with the idea since PW started :P

Implementing.... another story, but definitely sounds hella fun and worth exploring a bit.

That is just not worth the trouble and after cost and electricity, I cannot see this as viable.

Spot on. I do around R70-odd per day with two 1050ti cards, and another R25-odd with my HD7850 (actually quite impressed with this card, given it's dog old! Not sure about the efficiency though, and it will go away once my 1080 lands)
