In the bios: are PCIe set to gen 1 and 4G enabled? Some people reckon setting PCIe to auto solved the problem... :confused: I've been having the same issue but average hash for all 6 GPUs is still over 30 so haven't thought too much of it

Yes, it is Gen1 now, was on Auto before. If it is on Auto, it does not recognize my 4xUSB riser card. I will play again tonight and see what I can come up with. I have been monitoring mining today, and it seems like I am getting 80 to 90% out of "main" card.

Actually toying with the idea to create a crypto currency for https://platinumwealth.co.za - so a fork of bitcoin (will need a catchy name), but only usable on the forum (for events, prizes etc, maybe later partnering retailers or some jazz) and then you earn it either by post contributions, reps etc and it will also be mineable.

Sounds like something fun and harm free, basically a financial forum with it's own little economy. Thoughts?

Thoughts -> the forum is too small IMO.

Check it our here. GPU0 is the one I am talking about. The Watt and MEMCTRL is lower than the other 3.

GPU.JPG

GPU0 = EVGA 1070 SC
GPU1 = EVGA 1070 FTW
GPU2 = EVGA 1070 SC
GPU3 = EVGA 1070 FTW

You will notice the FTW draws a bit more power because it is slightly higher default clock, and uses 2 x 8pin connectors.

1 634 SOL/s is pretty decent still for four cards.

I hate the FTW cards - Have 60 of them running. Just plain k@k. Price - Earnings ratio. The other 60 odd SC 1s are doing the same for less power and then the new SC2 with ICX is fcking gorgeous!

Any news on that?

It depends though, LTC had great success with their roadmap and has made more inroads recently than BTC which in return laid a path which BTC is likely to pursue. The large mining entities believe that the next generation miners are around the corner, but I think that there will be 2 more current gen L3+ production batches, the one set in Sep and another in Nov/Dec/Jan, maybe, which will leave the next generation in production probably somewhere in Q2 2018. You see, the increase in value makes it viable to mine on the current gen. Don’t expect to see it released to the market soon.

People buying L3/antminers etc. Those guys have more balls than I do.

I feel like I'm making progress by ordering at least. Right now I can't put a PC rig together because I can't get components. My first line was to do a PC rig but honestly, I've no guarantee that I'm going to get any of the next batch of anything.

Well the thing is, if you can still make $$$ out of older generation machines, you prolong your manufacturing life and control the market to some degree. I've no doubt they have prototypes that they are mining off for their own gains. They can sell those when they're not hitting the wall with demand outstripping supply. They may even have different models for their big clients who run the datacenters.

It's the same principle of phone manufacturers churning out 3Mp phones back in the day of Symbian. They could have easily done 20Mp back then already yet didn't. Why? Because there's a ton of demand for the older tech... when it gets too old to sell, you then pop out the latest and greatest 6Mp version. Still behind the curve in terms of R&D but suddenly very saleable.

LTC is good on track to stabilise around the $50 mark, then when it goes up to around $60 onwards to $80 you will be coining. Just remember, once these coins gain value the miners hit the pools in strong numbers. Then they conspire in their pump and dump consortium, huddle over to Poloniex... and yeah. Rinse, repeat.

EthOS costs money so scrapped that idea

I finally got some GPUs. PSU shipping delayed, but managed a loaner on a smaller unit. My risers in the container at Cape Mail waiting to be unpacked. Hopefully everything will come together by the end of the month.

So at this stage I'm running a single card on the board. For now it's Windows with claymore into ethpool.org. I've read mixed reviews about whether or not dual-mining is worth it. Anyone doing it?

I don't have too much of an issue going the Linux route, but keeping reading that tweaking the card power, mem etc. is more difficult under Linux? This true? I had a quick dig around and the nvidia-smi tool looks pretty powerful.
