Understand. That was also based on Bitcoin, which would be difficult to mine.

Would like to have to checked the return on a different coin, but the calculator does not allow that..

Value is the BTC equivalent since that's one of the only coins you can convert to FIAT. It's the coin that the others are pegged to to some degree like the USD to other currencies. You will need to convert to BTC before converting to FIAT if you want to realise cash value. At least that's my understanding.

Thanks. Just the ASIC justify the investment?

Is that Nicehash calc correct? Says an average payback period of 71 days for a 1060? Thats pretty decent (I know it excludes the cost of PSU, Tower etc). But 4 x 1060 would then share that cost..

I wouldn't mine BTC - it's not the most profitable at current scale IMO. The ASIC miner I ordered is the Antminer L3+ which mines at 500 MH/s for Scrypt based coins. ROI on the L3+ is around 1-2 months AFAIK. They just take ages to land - mine shipping late August.

Makes sense, thanks.

Are you guys experiencing similar or better returns?

Also, the calculator says a 1050ti will have a better ROI compared to a 1060/1070. How can that be? Surprised to see the 480 completely kills the 1060 on ROI.

Can someone please explain the auto switching to me in nicehash. I've been monitoring this now for a bit. For example, it would mine equihash at my side and the returns would show anywhere from 390-430 rand a day. Then it switches to lbry for example and the numbers go down to 330-350. If I then for example switch back to equihash manually, I'm back at the 390-430.

What's the point of the auto switching if it lets you mine less profitable currency? Or am I missing something here?

Auto switching is rubbish.

Thought so. What do you leave it on mostly? Equihash?
Or where could one see what is most profitable to mine on a daily basis based on the hardware owned?
On 1070s leave it on equiphash and dagger, it's ok to switch between them. I try and keep track of prices and switch manually if needs to be.

I can now confirm only gtx 1080/1080ti in stock in country are the gtx 1080 seahawk and gigabyte GeForce GTX 1080 Aorus Xtreme Edition.

Some retailers might have some others in stock, but nothing left at suppliers.

For others who have ordered from Bitmain (Antminers) - what was your experience?
Some interesting things that came up when I ordered:

1) You place the order at Bitmain before you get shipping costs. I ordered 2x L3+ and shipping was just over R2k with DHL.

2) You can pay in BTC or USD or LTC. I paid in USD and had to go into the bank to do a SWIFT transfer which takes 4-5 days to effect. Bitmain don't send an invoice - only an order note. The bank says they may actually need an invoice for import purposes (likely SARS) but will submit anyhow and see if it comes back. Bitmain reserve the right to cancel the order if payment is not received within 3 working days. I sent them the transfer for I handed in at the bank, hopefully that's enough to hold them off for a week.

3) The bank phoned me to ask if I had an import permit or if this is a 'once off'. I said it's a once off but it may turn into something bigger in which case i'll apply for an import permit.

Bitmain have 1600w power supplies for $100 but they're not available for sale at the moment - too much demand. It would likely be a separate order or I'll find a platinum PSU locally.

It is going to be a long three months. I think the next L3+ batch is only going out in mid-September, then you need to wait on the shipping and customs pending on your arrangement with DHL. Bitmain's ETA on the APW3 was yesterday, so it should be orderable soon.

I am waiting on the next generation LTC miner. Now that LTC is stable again and have doubled in value some time ago, the miners will climb right back in.

How many SOL/s do you get on average per card? I know this can differ as you apply more mem etc.

Also is it normal that it would starts off pushing more as you start and then a few seconds later it's lower an stabilized? What cause this?

I used to mine HUSH (aka Zdash) in the abundance on any day when it was still worth less than 10c. Suddenly they announced to bring an Zcash developer onboard and the price shot up to $1. They then rebranded in accordance with their new roadmap and SuperNET (HUSH will be on the Agama App soon) took notice, the price shot up to $4. Now on a day-to-day trade it will be valued between $3-3.50. The stable Windows wallet is set to be launched tomorrow or Friday which will make them compliant to be listed on the more reputable exchanges. They have a very responsive Slack, on which the new lead dev stated that Counterparty is around the corner.

The ‘Z’ market, the competition between the Zerocash coins are about to get real.

Ever since the increase in value their block explorer has been under DDoS.

I thought this was the issue, but this setting has improved it the problem, but not solved yet.

In the bios: are PCIe set to gen 1 and 4G enabled? Some people reckon setting PCIe to auto solved the problem... I've been having the same issue but average hash for all 6 GPUs is still over 30 so haven't thought too much of it
