Cryptocurrency Mining

That is just not worth the trouble and after cost and electricity, I cannot see this as viable.

I dont even know what I pay for electricity per unit.
What would you say is the minimum rig that you need ?

You think?

The card uses 60w. Remember it draws this from the board, it doesn't use an external connector.

So that's 1.44kwh per day (60w for an hour will use 0.06kwh so multiply that by 24). So that's 43.2 kwh's per month
To check my rate, I just bought R15 worth of electricity and I got 12.5 units
Multiply the daily usage by R1.20 per kwh.

So if he's on the same tariff he would spend R51.84 per card, he's got 3 so that's R155.52 for electricity.

He'll still nett around R1 800 after deducting electricity. That's not too bad in my books

I lay a lot, maybe too much, faith in NiceHash as almost all my eggs are in their basket.

This is for one card and R2 per kWh.
Ha, we got to the same grand total :)

Yeah, I also have quite a bit vested in them

we pay less than 80 cents - You will probably pay what I pay at my house - Residential being R1.90 - R2.80 per KwH

That thing will cost more in labor and power than it can make.

R1800 is not worth the effort for me.

What labor is involved ? Start it and let it run , check if it crashed or not on a daily basis , doesnt sound like work ?

spend about an hour to 2 hours checking and tuning. but its only initial hiccups i hope. after i get it where i want it it will be much less.

What's the warranty implication of buying a GPU from overseas? No local warranty? I guess it depends on which brand you buy.

I doubt there are any international warranties out there on components like that.

These things very rarely run at optimal profit untouched for long periods. Sucks when you go to bed at 10 and wake up at 7am all excited just to realise your rig froze and never mined.

That's what raspberry pi's are for :D
You need a wake up call at 2am to say it needs help.
Imagine your cooling failing at midnight and finding a bunch of dead units the next day...

What is your insurance bill like on your lot?

I've found the NHM Alpha 2.0.0.7 doesn't report and update as well as the current release. Sure they'll still sort it out though.

Hi guys,

Has anyone got any experience with an Antminer L3+?

I am seriously considering getting one and would love some feedback from anyone that has used or is using one or something similar.

@dj2381 might be able to help. I have ordered and the payment has finally gone through today. Now the long wait.
I see they've tied the price to LTC at the mo - 41LTC. So the USD price goes up every minute lol.

Just checked I pay 1.0006 per KwH, I'm moving to Montana though! :-(
