Cryptocurrency Mining

Your opinion. I have two d3 in October batch. Is this too late. Should i wait for next new version batch 1 Ltc or Dash miner

I will take them if you don't want them, :D I'm not saying there's anything wrong with getting them, obviously the sooner you can get them the more chance of making some decent cash.

I want them but I must advise my partners.. Lol

Guys sorry to hijack this thread, do you guys actually make money doing this?
I mean really, factoring in electricity and equipment is it really worth while?

Yes I bought my equipment early may, and I do make money doing this.

Currently the prices are inflated, so it is tough making money.

Current stats: R13600 money being generated out of thin air every month, cost around R4300 electricity a month.

Still owe R21600 on the equipment, everything cost me around R77000. I did also give some money to wife spend etc, so could had this cost down a bit.

Wow ok, damn the equipment is expensive thanks for explanation
Imagine doing this with Solar energy or batteries linked to solar?

And then having a setup of 5 or more machines?

There is a guy in yzerfontein which runs his setup on solar during the day, not sure if it is worth the cost if you install it just for mining. He install solar systems as a business, so probably had solar even before he started mining.

My Nicehash profitability spreadsheet:

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/101926939/Nicehash Profitability 1.3.xlsm

It's a work in progress but I don't have time today to potter any more with it so I'm posting the beta.
What it does / how to in short is allow you to compare various hardware profitability visually using Nicehash's extensive data of historic and current rates:

You have to enable macros in the workbook for it to do it's thing. Don't trust it? No problem - Alt-F11 to see the code. No comments / snyde remarks on the code readability lol, this was slapped together in a day and a bit and is a work in progress. :p

1) On the 'Start' sheet, enter your variables (yellow fields) and click 'Import data' to
grab the latest info from Nicehash

  • For the BTC price, the system will grab the latest prices from Yahoo finance and Nicehash but you can enter your own custom BTC/USD price - chose the one you want to use in the output using the radio buttons.
  • For the BTC sell price in ZAR, enter the amount you would get per BTC if you were to convert to FIAT using your preferred exchange (e.g. Luno) - this is used for the ZAR profitability calcs.

2) On the Analytics tab, click the graph and select the stuff you want to show, feel free to do as you please, but please don't ask me how to use Excel and pivots - there's plenty youtube out there :)
  • Hide / show hardware you have no interest in by selecting from the drop-down at the bottom left of the chart.

3) Feel free to create your own analytics / graphs / visualisations from the Data-Short tab

4) The full raw data is in the Data tab and includes over 4000 snapshots of profitability over 10 minute intervals for each piece of hardware over the past month - hence the time taken to import the latest data from Nicehash. It's all there and can be mined if you have the inclination and time.

I want to add some trend analysis next (e.g. profitability over the past 30 days). I'll do all of that later, but if you do happen to add some cool stuff to it, please share.

I am at the point of paying off my A4 Dominators which was around 50K after tax and import duties, it would have been sooner if I didnt buy a GPU rig with the profits, I wont lie, the 2 x L3+ miners arriving this month make me nervous watching the Scrypt price fluctuating all the time on nicehash, I just have to keep reminding myself there are other coins to mine if LTC doesn't work out. I can only hope for a 1 month ROI on those two L3+'s, +- 35 days depending on customs charges. Some of my NH profits go toward buying other coins/tokens which might have huge future value, so there is money to be made.
