I only played the demo a few months ago and was not really impressed with the game, the plot just seemed a bit lame especially the alien.

Bear in mind that I played it on a 2ghz Athlon64 with Radeon X300 PCIe card, I am aware that the graphics are spectacular but is that all? Am I missing something?

Crysis isn't meant to be played on just any system.

Infact most systems basically CRACK under the pressure.

The graphics and gameplay is only nice, when your framerate is nice and smooth, and also people go for graphics. If u play it on low detail, you might aswell go for another game. Cause this game is heavy on graphics, memory and heavy on Processor.

I should say, Dual Core with 2gig ram, and at least a Nvidia 8800GT to be able to play it :>

When the gameplay is choppy your are not gonna have a nice experience at all

The game played decent, I ran the game at low graphics and it looked ok, but I still dont see why it's such a great game minus the graphics.

I found the game just another shooter. Yes, graphics and interface were very, very good but I just didn't find it that great. I personally preferred BioShock more.

Graphics engines are not the be all and end all of games. Quite frankly I wish I could play old AVP in Vista, I loved how the marine levels make you crap in a dark room at night.

* begins digging around the old games closet * :D

For me the graphics were the selling point, not much else, I had more fun turning on cheats and running around with the sniper rifle and rocket launcher :)

It was a good game - until that ****ing stupid "fly the plane bit", where I just tossed it.

As for graphics - blah. I grew up on 8bit systems, gameplay is king - graphics are just frills.

lol, anyone you paid money for that piece of crap B-movie on rails got punked.

The Alien levels in AVP 2 are great.
I didn't get to far with the marine levels in either game.

IMO, Crysis is for PC graphics as Prince of Persia was for PC sound way back when.

Yes, you could play Prince of Persia using your tinny internal PC speaker, but if you forked out the cash for a SoundBlaster card, the music and sound (for that time) was awesome, even if the game itself wasn't' your cup of tea.

Same goes for Crysis. The gameplay might suck but the graphics on a capable system is awe-inspiring.

yea but once they awe inspiring wares off what do you have?
The frustration of not spending your hard earned money on a PS3/XBOX360 that doesn't need to be upgraded when the next high-end game comes along?

i dont mind spending alot of money on a pc to be honest

i work on my pc all day long and game on it :)

what i do mind is companies releasing games that not even a 9800gx2 can run with everything full

If it doesn't need to be upgraded why are you punting a PS3 or xbox 360 and not a PS1 or xbox?

I really enjoyed the game ... until:

1) The game turned into just another 'frag-an-alienthon".
2) The stupid "fly the plane bit". This stage really didn't work in the game ... pathetic effort to ad some flying dimension to the game.
3) Floating around in the mountain trying to get out irritated me. It just didn't gel with the rest of the game.

I stopped playing the game for a few weeks when I faced the alien ship - thinking that I have some way to go before the end ... :) ... just to discover that the game ended as soon as I destroyed the alien ship. It was the quickest end to a game ever. :D

I found the game to be very immersive thanks to the great graphics and the gameplay was fun too. The most irritating part was the bit inside the alien. I finished the game twice and will finish it again next year if I have a G100 core gfx card by then :P

Great game IMO

I think it was a victim of it's own hype. Some had expectations the actual game could never deliver on while others disliked it because of the hype.
