Crystal Web DSL performance feedback thread Part 4...

I mean, I'm all for pouring on the CW hate bandwagon, but I think in their position I would have left too. No point raging at a low-paid, obviously inept support staff.

Speak with your wallet and do like the rest of us and leave CrystalWeb.

But where? All other ADSL ISPs on here have had issues.

I'm sure it will be fine again once they mitigate the DDOS attacks, but they don't have a fix for it, that much is clear by them delaying the ETA by a few days, every few days.

And I don't agree that they should've left. I asked a few pertinent questions, they didn't like it. I am a paying customer, not the one that caused this BS and lied about having a fix in a day or 2.

I personally migrated to Fibre. I can get 20mbs uncapped fibre for R250 less than my 10mbs ADSL line and ISP (CW) per month. It's a financial no brainer and, ironically, I cancelled a day before this incompetence descended on our easter weekends.

Realistically, I'd say do like the rest of us have done for years and keep moving to the flavour of the month. CrystalWeb were great for two years, and now are literally the worst in the business. In the space of a week they have become the model on how to drive your ISP into the ground like a bunch of buffoons. Move to Vox. It sounds like a good choice right now. When Vox begin to suck, go back to AH. I'm using AH as a stop-gap now for my business since CW has soiled the bed and it's okay. It's as mediocre as I remember it from 2014, but even mediocre will do compared to CW right now.

Fiber would be a no-brainer, obviously. Just a pity it isn't available for me yet.

Also, I was with Afrihost, and there is no way in hell I'm going back to them.

Im still with AH, never had any issues. Never had any issues with CW either, until they decided the FUTURE with Evonet is where its at. Right now, images on Tapatalk refuses to load, or takes nearly 5 minutes to do so.

Yeah I'm not holding my breath if my AH account keeshes out. I know the pain all too well. It WAS meant to be a temporary resurrection of my 20gb account for a day while CW pulled their socks up. Clearly that's not the case now. I'm looking at Vox for my last month with CW.

Had countless issues with AH. For months. And it all came down to their support not having a clue about using a ticketing system and not following up. Even with this crap I'd still rather stay with CW than move back to my former ISP.

Well, this won't go on forever at least... I hope.

I have my gaming account now, which suits my purposes. I will keep CW on the leash for this month as a download account, but once Fibre finally becomes available, I will be looking at options.

So what bothers me about this the past few days is that CW has been almost usable early in the mornings (4am or so) and then goes to hell in a handbasket around 06h30 or so.

I'm no super whizz, so correct me if I'm wrong, but surely a sustained DDoS attack, if that's what indeed it is, would not stop attacking in the early hours of the morning?

Increased overall network usage when people wake up.

My internet was fine yesterday with regards to streaming and browsing, my irritation was with not being able to join game servers.

So if I would like to move to another ISP provider can cw cancel my account on the cpe immediately? Would I get a refund for this month since I paid for a service I couldn't use

No you don’t get a refund because ISP’s don’t care if your internet is usable or not. They will still bill you regardless.

Surely you can't charge for a service you cannot use. The customer is entitled to a refund

You can cancel sure. Just do it before the 17th. And no they will not pro-rata refund you. HAHA. What a nice funny thought if that would be true.

If they are managing the fibre line then I think it might have to go into a holding pool or something. They have to release the line.

Chatted to Support "General" and asking him for a real ETA, because every few days they say it'll be "a few days" - online gaming is pointless at this stage, and I pointed him to this thread. He didn't even bother to reply in the end and just left the chat.

Love the professionalism, guys!

How did you manage to chat in the first place? :p

I had to follow up repeatedly on my cancellation last month. Asked once how to do it in the first week of March. Then followed up to confirm it. Then confirmed it again when they accidentally sent me a new password and login.

Sign up on your phone. Thats what I did since using cw connection I couldn't get vox page to load

I am now also with Vox. Same performance as old CW when they were using IS. I tried to sign up with my CC but it had some issues, so just added it as a debit order to my account. Apart from the CC glitch, have been very happy with follow up support. They don't have live chat after 5pm, but I called their techies and they helped me sort out some issues that I had despite it not being their issue.
