Crystal Web DSL performance feedback thread Part 4...

I'm streaming 1080p and have 162ms LoL EUW...
Torrents are a bit slower though, about 700KB/s instead of my normal 1.1MB/s,

Not a jab at you or anything like that but there always seems to be those few people on an ISP that never have problems. Like Postman and MWeb, iSomething and Openweb, Laura and Afrihost...

What account type are you on?

Upgrades to the 250GB capped from 150GB last month.
LaraC was flawless for all providers, telkom techies outside her house.
My friend in Somerset West is also not having issues, I asked after seeing the thread.

Edit: it's why I'm asking about being based in cape town.

Last night things were back to normal for me thankfully. Had no ping issues and streaming was perfect as well. Happiness. Hope the issues are behind me now.

Exactly, and I thought I was one of them as I haven't had issues on CW for 2 years, until now. But hey, nothing's gonna stop a wiseass. Clearly he thinks his network connectivity speaks for 100% of CW users' connections.

Same here.

I've had shaping problems on all four ISPs I use incl CW since the SEACOM line break mid April and reckon there was a lot of re-routing happening behind the scenes to compensate.

Is everything back to normal after the Seacom break or is IS still affected?

Getting half speed this morning, last night gaming was impossible with bad latency. Switched to my backup AH account and no more problems with gaming. Starting to seriously think about moving to another ISP.

Same. Got buffering on streaming again last night. It's very intermittent - it'll be fine for 30 minutes, then bad for 10, then good for 10, then bad for 40, etc.

Another problem found on the Seacom cable...

**** happens. Part that pisses me off, is the more-than-a-month-later scheduling of fixes after they've identified the issue.

EDIT: I see this one is scheduled to be fixed in 12 days, so not as bad this time.

Would think it's the only undersea cable in SA..

Took me 6 hours and 5 retries to download firmware from updato yesterday.

Gonna try another isp tonight.

Which ISP's don't use Seacom?

Strange seeing all these issues when my connection seems fine. I guess fibre isn't affected by all this, or at least fibre in the south.

Oh I am affected. Just not to such a degree that it really impacts my experience.

I mean if I get 30mbps out of my 100mbps I can still stream perfectly in 4k if I so chose. However where it screws me over is in routing to certain EU servers and when I want to download patches and games. THEN I can clearly see the problem.

So for streaming the problem is negligible for me as a fibre user. For other services I could definitely feel it. Have not had issues since Sunday night though. Happiness for that.

Hope it stays that way!
