Crystal Web DSL performance feedback thread Part 4...

Update - Engineers are busy with the install and switch over to new hardware. During this time some traffic may drop for up to 5min while other traffic will be unaffected. This will take place over the next hour

Even slower. Now 350Kbps on a 40vdsl line.

80kbps on a 20meg line for me

^^

For a while I even saw the EvoNet account active...

The EvoNet presence was presumably handled by Brian Seligmann who passed away recently. With communication indicating the move of the Crystal Web client base to EvoNet that probably meant that Brian would have been managing this thread.

International connectivity was OK for a while this afternoon, but now it's back to being 100% useless again, with an average packet loss of 40%(!) to international destinations.

my son just walked through and said his gaming is over until must later tonight.

Hi Mickey

I switched to Telkom Unlimited 40mb/s, local is full speed, but international on Telkom is fakked. Is this a general Telkom problem with shaping and throttling perhaps or something else related

Both myself and a mate are struggling with international connectivity. Twitch doesn't work, gaming doesn't work.

These guys need to be more active here, else I'm moving. At least some updates over email would be great.

I think all ISP's have international problems if someone else maybe say it's all good on Telkom

I could hardly open a .gif tweet on twitter...

Im not one to complain re my internet connectivity, but im wondering if this move was right for CW

I had slow speeds all day, I could barely stream 240p vids on YouTube with a 20meg line. I then read the email about the new portal and details. Logged in changed the password then logged into the router changed the settings to the new username and pw. Back to full speed again. I hope this info helps some people

Wish I had come looking here first.
Had absolutely horrible throughput this morning (60Kb/s) and gaming was next to impossible.
Contacted support, told that account details had changed.
Switched over, about 40-60ms higher than usual, but stable...for a little bit.
WinMTR results reveal massive packet loss on 41.85.22.165 (belongs to Frogfoot).
Pretty sure it's just a hiccup, but my whole day has been spent with this issue.

Hopefully it gets resolved soon.

Just finished live chat with their support. They blame everyone else, and despite promising resolution 3 hours ago, now say there is no ETA for resolution.

I'm genuinely sad at how one of the best ISPs two years ago has sunk to the depths of Telkom-level support and service.

My only regret is that I had cancelled my subscription with them months ago. This kind of train smash does not deserve customer's money.

The routing of Cape Town traffic through Joburg is apparently temporary, and should be resolved within the next week.
Can we ask how you came across this info? Just trying to decided if I should wait a bit or give my cancellation notice.

My live chat with one of the reps says it will stay jnb,

I assume you're in cpt, your new account is routing your traffic through jnb. Performance is even worse on the new account
