Crystal Web DSL performance feedback thread Part 4...

Pulled the trigger on cancelling with CW. If you're charging a premium rate, better deliver a premium service. That's definitely not happening.

Who are you moving to, if you don't mind me asking? I can't go on not being able to use my internet connection day after day, so I'll have to get my internet services from someone else. I need unshaped, unthrottled, un****ed, untamperedwith internet connectivity of some sort, which seems rare in South Africa. I don't really use all that much data, though. I can easily live with 150GB per month.

Wow they must really have pissed off some people to continuously be the target of DDoS attacks.

Other ISPs surely do get targeted as well...but you rarely ever here or feel it with them.

EvoNet have identified a problem with the switch managing load balancing across transit links. Engineers have been dispatched to resolve. This is causing packet loss and increased latency for some non-peered traffic at the moment. ETA is 24 hrs.

No clue. Maybe I'll give Vox a try. It's easy enough to go through ISPs until you find one that works for you.

Just signed up a vox data account. Seems unstable too with regards to latency

Edit :
I take back what I said. Port reset and vox account is working great =) will test it out for a few days . If all goes well handing in cancellation for cw

And evonet is really up to ****.

I am getting sub 10KB/s ftp download on a 4Mbps line.

And full line speed on my AfriHost free account.

I really hope their (evonet) network improves a lot before the 17th......

I started with Crystalweb after almost losing my hair with Mweb support for not wanting to listen to anyone. When I signed up with Crystalweb it was the best experience I have ever had with internet, streaming and downloads were so consistent I could not believe it.

The last 2 weeks I've had exactly the opposite experience, streams would randomly buffer and movies on Netflix would go to the worst quality available, and then still buffer on a 20mb/s line. Asking Crystalweb what the problem was they say there is no problem at all and there is no throttling.

Tonight I'm having the same stream buffering problem, but support is not even replying to their live chat on the website, such a great feature.

I know its not the source of the connection, switching to an Afrihost (yes I know, GASP, Woe is me) it works flawlessly until the 2Gbs are done, going back to the CW account, its like I don't have internet

Edit : I have a 20mb/s premium home uncapped account, and this post took 5 tries to post before it would go through

I was with openweb and had the same issues everyone has now with them.

Then Shaun decided to do his own thing and start an ISP, (by the people, for the people). He recruited me via PM, I cancelled OW, waiting for the month notice, and did not look back eversince, until now.

Sure there were some teething issues, but it was not as bad as the state of the network is now. The last few years on CW were good, but is doea not seem to be worth it anymore.
