Gaming doesnt use much either i have a 10gb capped account for gaming (need that ping) though if cw fix is good enough might cancel it

LUCKILY I have my Mtn Uncapped for this, what a treat the ping's are, even after the 3GB is up I still manage to get 180ms international ping.

In essence yes, Naspers is really the South African firm that is failing to use its deep pockets to the benefit of building a robust and meaningful ICT structure - and who demonstrably free ride, and try to free ride on regulatory capture. There is an unfortunate tendency in SA to blame Telkom for all manner of things, and Telkom have failed this country, but the reality is a little more complex. The extent to which a particular line is taken by MWEB on LLU [which position really is to ask for Telkom to subsidize the dominant OLOs] and their aggressive blocking of innovation from Telkom Internet (which really should be thought of as any other ISP with its own challenges and comparative advantages) at the competition commission is truly retarding the prospects of breaking some of the deadlocks we are finding. It is greatly perplexing that MWEB falls operationally and structurally under Naspers "pay TV" division and that if we look at it holistically Naspers has massive exposure to foreign "dot com" bubbles [there exposure through Tencent] while really not betting on the SA market at all - despite the fact that we do have developers and are exporting more virtual service provisions every year. It really does appear that Naspers attitude towards the Internet is to compel Telkom to deliver the channel of distribution and Naspers to pull the revenue on every angle. There are exceptions, there was a major drive in the industry under a previous MWEB CEO, but ultimately Naspers more than Telkom has been the infringer of the consumer.

On the other hand if you consider Naspers in comparison to US cable operators who are currently making inroads to undermine the very fabric of the Internet it may be premature to grab your pitchfork.

Naspers/Media24 only lines their own pockets. that's how they grow from a R3billion company in 2000 to a $159billion company today that's why there shares trading at R1356-95 . spend little. make as much as you can... Look at DSTV for example - give sh@tty content at a premium price. I've been studying them for years. Mweb's "free the web" campaign only harmed the internet. they also drive the anti piracy campaign in SA...

I'm so glad I'm not the only one seeing that they're actually evil...

But back to CrystalWeb - downloading stabilized and had been much better today... been getting near line speed most of the day... keep up the good work and keep the answers crystal clear...

Had awesome performance on Wildstar this evening. True latency was sitting at about 220ms (constant) and felt really responsive.
Booted up GW2 (not that I play it anymore) and hey presto, no latency issues. That other ISP never did get that right for me. It pretty much killed the game for me when my latency showed up fine but the lag was all over the place.

CW, so I was discussing my line upgrade with the ISP it is currently at, and they said it is only a VDSL service. Can you advise if it is only you that will get the 20mbps with ADSL2+. I need to know if I have to order a VDSL router?

Netflix and Huluplus have been streaming really well since Tuesday. I'm not a gamer, just streaming and browsing, but the international performance has been better than the temporary IS account and also better than OW.

Wish I could say the same. Unfortunately, at the moment, its the other way around for me, but like i said, i will hang on till the end of the week to see if matters improve for me, then make a call.

Is capped pricing going to be similar to afrihost's capped pricing?

Furthermore, when are you releasing the pricing for Capped & Uncapped ?
ie. what date is the website going live ?

If interested in 30 - 50 GB capped / month, will you have an option to pay in advance via EFT ?

I've personally never gone with Afrihost & Axxess, even though their (capped) rates are good, as their only options are Debit Order & Credit Card. I'm sure you'd gain customers if you allow for EFT transfers, and you won't be subject to 'bad debts' if paid in advance - in fact, I'm sure you'll gain quite a few new accounts, based purely on allowing for this 3rd option.

Your added info & comments on these matters would be appreciated, even at this early stage.

Credit card is easier imo...and you dont need a credit card to use credit system all you need is a cheque card(much easier to get)
