i could easily do 30/day if i wanted :(

Is this every day? I am just curious what a person can download. I know back in my day my account also did about 400GB a month, but that was with 2 neighbours and myself. I just wonder for people who average 400GB plus a month where they store everything, and that there can only be so many games, movies, series, apps etc... lol. This for instance is my usage up till yesterday evening 85.1 GB and that is purely streaming from 1 laptop, tablet and android stick. Estimate for the whole month is 170.2GB for streaming, browsing. Again just curious, maybe there are some awesome series I am missing out on.

Having a fast connection means that people do not have to rely on their own computer for storage - the cloud is their hard drive.

LOL same...I could easily pull close to that each month. I had my towers HDD bays maxed out and had a few HDD's just lying about and would just hot swop.

But the older me is just streaming and using it for work. So far this month I've only pulled just over 50GB. As a side note I am really impressed at the quality of compressed content Netflix can deliver.

The same could be said against cloud storage tbf.
Why keep any of it when you can just stream it?

I wish every streaming site could get that engine of Netflix. It adapts the quality of the stream to your line speed. I could even stream below SD on 38KB/s lol.

Haha yeah, no I was aiming mostly at people that pulls a minimum of 400GB a month, why I wondered in general what they download. Because I mean if you download lets say 800GB to over 1TB a month it's got to be sort of a addiction/sickness really. Or maybe it's just me that know's 1% of series and movies out there.

EDIT

Regarding the 1gbps connections, my one friend has a family member in the UK with I think a 200mbps connection, well faster than here at least, he asked him what he downloads and the family members response was why download if you can stream?

The same can be said for Hulu.
But I find that Hulu almost always plays well regardless.
I hardly ever notice it drop below 480p quality.

Even when I was with Telkom and they were performing horribly, Hulu still worked.

800gb a month is abit extreme :p

why download if you can stream....very true...but not everything can be streamed......i might as well add that my downloads are very rarely "p2p" almost 90%+ http and i already do cloud, but that doesn't mean cloud doesn't use internet...infact it can use twice as much because you have to download it and upload it and then itll download it AGAIN if you try to access it again :/

I do 300GB/month typically. FHD streaming with DTS on two TVs chows a good amount of data. My wife watches a lot of Netflix that contributes a lot to our usage.

Further, software updates on multiple devices, audio streaming, Steam (that's a big one...), YouTube and a couple of movies and you've broken the 200GB barrier fairly easily.

And to think of it, My first computer( Ohio Scientific) had 2 KB of Ram running at 1MHz which I increased to 32KB and 2 MHz. Downloading the 16KB Sargon Chess program from a 150 or was it 300 baud casette tape recorder used to take about 20 minutes, by the time it downloaded, you had already lost interest in playing a game of chess.

If the screaming tape didn't ruin the experience for you first.

Well, for overseas on those epic connections, it makes sense to stream because they typically don't distribute their ill gotten gains (or legally obtained ones xD) because everyone can get it.

Here, we have bandwidth starved friends who would like to obtain such data. Or our download speeds are generally quite bad that it makes sense to download the latest whatever overnight so you can enjoy it the next day with no hiccups with regards to speed / shaping / throttling / seacom.

Also I received no reply with regards to being a guinea pig for the new system. Guess I'll have to be patient then, even though I would really love to test it with regards to gaming latency! =/

Nope. External network is idle.

Trying to download WIndows Defender updates. Browsing myBB and faceboob. And have Outlook + Thunderbird open.

So load is very low.
