196.25.253.110 is the issue. The same terrible response times exist on other backbone accounts as just tested, in fact worse. Seeing 250ms response on SAIX, and similar on MTN, so it's certainly not related to our account or any issues with core routing.

That's a Vodacom server that's playing up or shaping applied on their network.

Trace complete.

Looks like Vodacom fixed it.

Trying to download some conferences from http://www.dcprovidersonline.com but my speed is dropped to around 30kb/s. Any chance that this could be a problem on CW's side?

Well, that's what support is there to find out for you. We can't support directly from forum posts - we try, but it means that 1) management have to do the actual support rather than the support staff; and 2) we have to go through a long roundabout process ascertaining all necessary details via PM which is fairly inefficient.

Happy to try when we have the time, but live support are there 24 hours instead to deal with issues quickly.

I'm speaking to support at the moment, hope it can be sorted out quickly.

Edit: Everything looks fine now. Must have been a problem on the host.

We are very cool with Vidi streaming to the consumer - just as we are very cool with any streaming system
naturally the quality of service is greatly improved when the provider of the streaming service uses a CDN and invest in infrastructure - this is why Twitch is generally a problem - hopefully Vidi will see more SA households signup for DSL services and will drive some competition. We can also hope that more services coming on stream and the increased demand on the IPConnect system will see prices on that front decreasing (while revenue for Telkom increases) and investment in the ecosystem as a whole benefiting.

We'd also be a lot happier if Vidi had included a "watch later" function that caused the content to download onto a users system at an off-peak time ... ;)

My account has been acting slow from about an hour ago :( the crystalweb site is taking forever to load so I can talk to support...ping is about 117 and packet loss about 25%

Account has been superb up until now :D been maxing out my line on almost all protocols

The website seems to load fine for me.
What does the tracert indicate? Which hops have high latency?

are you able to come on to live support?
if not drop me a PM with your Crystal Web username and I'll flag it to one of the support agents

@RoMark I get a few time outs after the 196.6.121.198 hop to my broadband

Okay great otherwise if its a general DSL problem getting an email from your mobile will allow us to at least get the process started - and as customers with DSL circuit problems will attest if need be we'll call you

Seems like it is a problem with my line. Just got onto my afrihost backup and the site still takes time to load, support chat never loads.
