And it's nice of them but it cannot be expected from them. I'm sure they do have to sleep/rest at some point. :D
Indeed, also we aren't first line support and while right now I am working it is prep work for the week going forward.

so while if I see a ticket that indicates a customer isn't able to connect I will see if I can get the customer at least connected this might result in a rather short response and getting the connection up with support staff chasing up on the matter.

Guys am I wrong here but support is only up to 5pm on weekends..? I see people often moaning about not getting replies after 5 pm on Saturday and Sundays.

yep weekends and public holidays support till 5

I have no reason to complain about support as I am (im)patiently waiting for 1 October to arrive so that I can start my CW journey. However, the current (albeit temporary) CW website makes several references to 24 hour support without qualifying limited support on weekends. There have been several posts in this thread indicating limited weekend support hours, but not everyone reads every post and many would rely on the website for information. In this context it would be understandable that there are expectations of live support after 5pm on weekends.

Since joining CW I have had 4 weekends of perfect streaming and interwebs. I hope this honeymoon never ends :D

Thank you CW

Hey again CW.
So... my next round of random questions. Apologies if this has been asked already, but finding a question in here is.... well... yeah.

"Tier 2 shaped bandwidth only applies after often hundreds of gigs of usage."
This is possibly just me, but replacing "often" with "possibly or potentially" may make for better reading?

On that line though, is this 'at your discretion', or is the unshaped portion we're given (bless your souls! :) ) more of a guideline until the network takes strain?

I know you've already mentioned that you're working on this, but..... can you tell us when we can check our data on the portal? :D

Are you on Fusion? More importantly, have you surpassed your unshaped limit on it if you are? My "news" has been running fine on unshaped, so there doesn't appear to be a general issue at least.

Forgot to qoute: Post #9137 refers.

4Mbps fusion:

I'm being shaped and my speeds are fine. Not sure if usage play a role.

On Fusion (or atleast paying R429 for the equivalent thereof) and haven't surpassed the "limit" AFAIK.

I've connected to other usenet providers (eliminating the crystalweb news server) and getting the same dismal download speeds on them as well. I suspect that the protocol is shaped, as I noticed that it went full blast at 12AM on both Friday and Saturday.

All other protocols running great as always; browsing is seamless, streaming 720p without a problem.

News server 502 invalid username or password only at night no problems during the day.

Getting this error from time to time as well; not consistent though.

It's whether it reads well in SA law that is the better requirement.

We're looking at adding a stated minimum to the individual product specs. If the network takes strain, ordinary network management contention kicks in though - it's how all networks operate. Shaping to maintain a cost basis though is different and part of the product spec instead.

We need to move everyone over to the new realms for the management systems to show you only your data correctly. It's finalised on our end, but the transition will happen to the new realms on 01 November. Until then, we're working on a workaround, but I really don't like "workarounds".

Any news on when the news server will be running normally?
Downloading at ~10% of line speed really sucks.
Is it just shaping that's being applied as I've seen speed bursts of up to 100%?

Well, these are the sorts of queries that a support agent will need to answer for you.

As much as we love mybroadband, it's an official channel of support in that a customer can be 1) verified for security, and 2) reconcile forum names to specific accounts to check what's going on.

Happy to help where we can as management for escalated support queries, but as a general rule, these sorts of queries really need to go via our support desk.

While I agree all users should go through the official support channels, I've yet to be impressed by CW handling of emails. I've sent another one last week, no reply.
