Crystal Web (NEW ISP) ADSL Feedback

So is Crystal Web going to bring back fully unshaped accounts?...I am not interested in BS fusion "shaped" accounts... Still waiting for that as well as debit orders :/

TBH this past Saturday I managed a good 350KB/s on a 500MB download, so I don't think the fusion account is bad at all. The only downside is that the shaper did something to my account yesterday and I had to get a temporary login to go on. Still not to bad considering it happened the 29th.

Any of you guys have issues with your Whatssapp throughput when shaped?

I was on Fusion and hit my unshaped limit, so was transferred to another account. Everything - barring my torrents - seems to go similar to what it went before (slightly slower on speedtest for some reason), except Whatsapp is pretty much dead?

Rebooted both my phone/router - but there's no throughput. In other words while connected, no messages come through and I need to disconnect to send

The Whatsapp issue has been reported to the network team to investigate further, guys. Appreciate the feedback.

you are still on fusion - your account is just shaped until the end of the month -- so another few hours
there does seem to be something up with Whatssapp - there is a discussion a little earlier. Still waiting for fuller details so for now my explanation holds :)

O and you are still a couple of hundred customers away ... and need to join TK :p

Please note that the Crystal Web account on mybroadband may be a little less active over the next few days, at which point we will be back up and around. Please talk to support for all support and billing related queries.

Note that if you were issued a new account because our shaper didn't kick in 100% as expected, then please revert back to your original account as of midnight tonight. Apologies for the inconvenience. The problem has been fixed on our end and we'll be migrating customers over to the final realms over the coming weeks.

It means no more changing usernames again. Yay!

September feedback:

****loads better than august. well done.

Ok so from tomorrow I'm without an ISP. Really considering CW but I have a question about their uncapped. I saw mention of this unshaped till X gigs for the month thing on these forums, but I can't see anything on their signup page.

I'm considering the 4meg uncapped option. So I want to know how many gigs of "tier 1" data do I get? And do downloads at night (00:00 to 07:00) count toward this magical threshold? A 100 gig unshaped option with [additional] unlimited full speed downloads at at night sounds too good to be true...

100 gigs on 4Mbps but all usage counts towards the traffic. We're looking at some cool things in this respect at the moment, to eliminate usage from midnight to 7am as well. But these standard uncapped packages offer incredible value. Awesome shaping policy that leaves gaming, streaming, VPN etc untouched, and moves large downloads to after midnight.

And on top of that, we give you unshaped data for free, for at least 100 gigs.

We also just upgraded our 20Mbps and 40Mbps quietly behind the scenes. Even more unshaped goodness up to 400GBs per month, as standard on 40Mbps.

Why? Because we really and truly want you guys to get faster and faster speeds, by making it more accessible, and without reducing the quality of the ISP aspect - in fact by making it even better.

And it applies to existing customers too as of the end of next month.

sad... I want to read this:

heeheh :p

Well this month, quietly and without many customers noticing, we increased the unshaped limits for some customers. We obviously didn't send out a press release and marketing statement to all customers, but we still did it, to see the impact to the network. Bottom line was that we may continue to do so on some sort of randomised draw basis as well. Maybe. But again, these are a few value adds we're throwing in behind the scenes for customers when we can, and when we're feeling particularly generous. :D

Ok here's my problem with how fusion works.

It's all great and all offering unshaped GBs at the start of the month, but I prefer a consistent experience. getting unshaped for a few days, then shaped, would just make me unhappy about being shaped, not happy that I got a few hundreds of unshaped. If I used less than the unshaped GBs amount, the account would be quite expensive for needs.

I'd much prefer a way of blending these unshaped GBs into the account so that I get a less shaped, but consistent experience throughout the whole month.

Or another way to improve it would be to not allow midnight downloads to use unshaped GBs(even if one has to pay more). Then offer bolt ons so that a person can get more unshaped(day time) GBs, that again don't get used after midnight.

DISCLAIMER:

I have no idea how shaped the account gets after the unshaped GBs are used, just my perspective.
