Crystal Web (NEW ISP) ADSL Feedback

All my IS stats that are coming through to my gmail account are marked as potential spam, not stressed about it as only on IS as a temporary measure

Just want to confirm, no additional costs for using the Temp IS account and switching between them? As long as both of them are not used at the same time correct?

That is the way I understand it. I think Paul confirmed it a few days back.

That is correct. In fact even if you used them at the same time we're going to let it slide. We really don't believe in punishing you for these sorts of things that stem from a problem on our end.

Really pleased with the support I've received so far. Suffice to say, it's a breath of fresh air.

Keep it up, CW.

@CW
PS4/PS3 is my preferred gaming platform and I'm especially heavily involved with GT6 on the PS3.
Since moving to CW I'm a bit prone to dc'ing from the GT6 server(not out of PSN), not being able to see some guys on track and not being able to hear guys chatting, although the rest of the room can hear them.

My PS3 is in DZM mode, so I should not have port / firewall issues.
Is there a possibility that this could be looked at?

Unfortunately we can't test every platform and every vendor, but I realise that this is a major vendor in the market. If you can provide us with specifics to investigate or fix we'll certainly do so for you. But we can't test specific game platforms and specific games.

As it is Crystal Web now has some silly Diablo account. Apparently all you do in that game is click, click, click with the mouse and people die. :D

People? You're doing it wrong... you should be fighting demons! and Angels! And wee little beasties! And joining our clan.... ;)

What is this people thing you talk of?

You're killing pixels.. sweet innocent pixels that never did anything to you! Its shameful.

Unfortunately beyond the capital and operational cost implications to do an extensive gaming test environment there is also the very real licensing problem. The authorities aren't happy when you start keeping too many primates on the premises - and the neighbours will complain when we need extra bins for all the bananas.

Great, im considering using the temp account for now until the CW account issues has been fixed, but I might switch back to CW account if i'm not too happy with it

I understand your point.
Not sure how to approach though?
I used to give the game name and platform to Ranger and he would have a look at it. Not sure what he did.
I run a racing forum and I host many of these races, so it is pretty important for me to have a stable line.

Unfortunately I don't have access to pings, routes, servers etc like the pc community.

The port numbers for Gran Turismo 6's online racing are listed below. However, depending on your fellow players' network environments, other UDP ports may also be used.

TCP: 80, 443, 5223
UDP: 3478, 3479, 3658
Online play may be adversely affected if these ports are blocked by your router's firewall or by other means. In such cases, you will need to cancel LAN -> WAN (outward) packet filtering on your router.

If, even after performing the above step, you are still having trouble enjoying online races while connected through a router, please set your router so that it forwards the port number noted below to your PlayStation®3 system. (To set up port forwarding, you may need to manually set the IP address on your PlayStation®3 system. To do so, select "Network Settings" from your PlayStation®3 system's XMB™, then select "Internet Connection Settings" -> "Custom", and set "IP Address Settings" to "Manual").

UDP: 3658
For details on setting up port forwarding on your router, please refer to your router's instruction manual, or contact your router's manufacturer.

Depending on your router type, "port forwarding" may be referred to by another name, such as: "port mapping", "static masquerading", "port opening", "changing address settings" or "virtual server". Please refer to the section of your router's manual which deals with online gaming for more details.

This ^^^ is the only info I have and obviously aimed at my local router.

Unfortunately it's a little more complex than port numbers. The port and packet headers come in to play. We can't prioritise all packets on port 443 for example as this is the default port for all https traffic, and 5223 is used by Apple for all notifications. People often assume that QoS is simply a matter of rate limiting ports and packets but it's far more complex in that the priorities as to how each packet enters and importantly EXITS a funnel in the QoS pools is vital.

In this case if it's peer-to-peer traffic it will assign it a low priority in that specific peer-to-peer pool. If it's on port 443 it makes it a little more complicated as we have mechanisms to attempt to put a stop to circumvention of default shaping policies on SSL traffic. In your case it may in fact be a discovery issue on udp ports rather than a tcp issue.

What you'll need to do is schedule some time with our network bloke who, with your permission, will monitor your connection during a game to see the traffic passing through on the required ports to see how it's passing through and if there are any issues. If there are no issues then it may in fact be other users on your network who have port forwarding issues. For example if another user or their ISP is blocking that specific traffic on UDP 3478 you won't be able to "discover" them and you'll not see them nor hear them in-game.

I'm unfortunately not a gamer (no Sinbad, I'm not :D ) and I'm not a network engineer either, so I'll have to get you on with the right guys at the right time to test this.

We just don't have the mechanisms to put together a gaming testing centre to monitor this traffic. Perhaps once we launch and you've all referred your brothers, aunties, uncles and friends, we'll look at setting aside a budget for this and employ a full-time gamer with a decent networking background to specifically prioritise gaming as a whole. Or we'll work with the MyGaming community to help out.

For now, our focus is on getting the core network running smoothly for as many users as possible, and thereafter we'll look into the finer specifics.

But bottom line is get in touch with support, ask them to refer your ticket to Shaun, and I'll arrange for you and the networking blokes to talk to see what we can do in the interim.

Guys are you expecting the CW accounts to perform the same as the IS accounts from midnight tonight, because right now international on my CW account is still horribly borked
